Katherine Siva Saubel
, 1920-

Cahuilla

Katherine Siva Saubel is known for her dedicated work in the preservation of the Cahuilla language and culture. In 1964, she helped found the Malki Museum on the Morongo reservation. She is still chairwoman of the museum, and is a member of the Native American Heritage Commission. She currently resides on the Morongo Indian Reservation, and is chairwoman of the Los Coyotes band of Cahuilla Indians at Warner Hot Springs.

Awards and Honors

1993 inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame.
1994 Woman of Achievement Award, Riverside YWCA.
