The Neo-Classic literary movement was a very logical and reasoning movement. A prominent Neo-Classic figure is Patrick Henry who believed he can antagonize Britain by imputing every hardship they faced to Britain. The Neo-Classic idea of freedom from tyranny is best exemplified by Patrick Henry. Patrick Henry excellently uses ethos to communicate his viewpoint on freedom from tyranny.

The book can be reread thousands of times, and each time the reader will fall in love with it a little bit more. Whether it is because the reader understands the themes of the book more complexly, or because they discover something they had not discovered before. Each time, the reader can enjoy Slaughterhouse-Five just a little more. This is important for a classic to do this, because part of the definition of a classic is for the book to be enjoyable even after, and especially after rereading the book.

Satirical Analysis of 1984 and “A Modest Proposal” Satire is a common form of writing used by authors to highlight issues they see in their societies. George Orwell and Jonathan Swift are two famous satirical authors because of their works 1984 and “A Modest Proposal,” respectively. These authors use the satirical device diminution, as well as some other devices, to highlight the idea that their societies excessively submit to those in authority just for the sake of survival. Realistic characters allow for the book’s plot to continue and allow readers to connect with the characters and their experiences. Another important criterion that makes a book a timeless classic is that it teaches readers a thoughtful message. An important message leaves readers with something to think about and something new to learn.

In the novel 1984, by George Orwell, he uses truth and reality as a theme throughout the novel to demonstrate the acts of betrayal and loyalty through the characters of Winston and Julia. Orwell expresses these themes through the Party, who controls and brainwashes the citizens of Oceania. The party is able to control its citizens through “Big Brother,” a fictional character who is the leader of Oceania. Big Brother is used to brainwash the citizens into whatever he says. Orwell uses truth and reality in this book to reflect on what has happened in the real world such as the Holocaust and slavery.

Throughout all periods of time there has been writing, some much better than the rest. It is these books that are considered timeless classics. But first, what is required to consider a book a timeless classic? For one, the book must have unique but relatable characters. The characters must be relatable to evoke sympathy from readers and must have a unique storyline.

Although media is responsible for the longevity of totalitarian political systems, in 1984 the author, George Orwell, criticizes the influences of media in society because it has negative effects on youth, and supports the abuse of governmental power over citizens. Within the dynamics of the social environment, media is always present in life, being like parasites that live in people’s minds and feed from their ideologies. In other words, individuals are no longer allowed to regress in a kind of evolutionary scale of communication, and media discourse increases more and more. Characters can be used to portray many different ideas and symbols. In George Orwell’s novel, 1984, there are many different characters, all with different purposes. There’s Winston, the rebellious protagonist. There’s Big Brother, the corrupt dictator that rules over the corrupt country that Winston lives in. However, behind these main characters, there are others that run deeper than the basic hero and villain.

To become a classic author, a writer must have their own characteristics, personality, and obvious traits. A classic author is different from the average writer. They possess a certain style that makes them identifiable to the reader, and can be distinguished from other authors and classic writers. Classic authors are timeless and recognizable due to each author having their own unique style. O. Henry, Mark Twain, and John Steinbeck each have their own observable styles and unique traits.
