The World’s Columbian Exposition was among the highest attended events during in 1893. The World’s Fair as it was known to the world, broadcasted various inventions that were deemed revolutionary. America was in the midst of the Gilded Age and Chicago was believed to be an acceptable location for this fair. So, our school has been closed for a couple of days and we have to make up 8 hours of school. We have to make up 8 hours of that. We can either chose from making it up on a Saturday or we can make school an hour longer for 8 days. It is up to the class to vote on it. The practice of Shabbat evolved, changed and expanded over millennia to meet the needs of people, respond to the growth of rabbinic law and adapt to the life of travails in the Diaspora.
