In “The Code of the Streets”, Elijah Anderson go in details and shows us on how teens are getting killed on a daily basis. Dr. Anderson discuss some social intuitions that influence crime in the urban neighborhoods. The first one I would discuss is the “Decent and Street Families”. The Decent and Street Families represent two poles of value orientation, two contrasting conceptual categories Dr. Anderson stated. There are many crimes happening in Jimboomba that are concerning not only myself but many parents as well as teachers and school principles. The first crime that has become a concern is teenagers vandalising school property by smashing windows throughout the school and spray painting the bathrooms. This crime is having many effects on Jimboomba school communities as the money that they are having to spend on fixing the damage could have been used towards buying new books for the library, new sporting equipment for the sporting programs, or just to be able to pay for more educational excursions. It has come to my attention that the recent cuts to the funding of public education has led to majority of our staff trying to selling chocolates, Magazine or Garbage bags for their children’s school fundraising but this has unfortunately led to serious complaints as customers and other stakeholders feel that they are not getting full attention from our employees.
