My life is a puzzle in which I test and solve its unpredictable pieces. I purposefully piece it together by acknowledging and reconciling the most significant fragments of my life. As a first-generation college student, finding my place while navigating the education system has been one of my biggest challenges. Coming from a low-income, Latino(a) single-parent family, I have always been determined to be more than a product of my circumstances; instead, the product of my decisions. Accordingly, I am proud to say I will complete a health science degree that has provided me with invaluable skills and expertise.

He started picking up the piano as a hobby in 2005 which lead to an instant obsession. With the grace of God he was able to turn that hobby into a successful music career with thousands of followers and supporters.

My goal is to become a primary doctor working with underserved communities, especially the Latino community. My work and volunteer experience and my professional goal are committed to provide service to the community with cultural competence, diversity and service orientation. CMSRU humanistic education in the art and science of medicine will complement these life experiences, characteristics, as well as my professional and personal interests and goals. As a medical student at CMSRU I will be able to receive an excellent education in patient care, will feel included in the CMSRU community, will share and strengthen my professionalism, collaborative and and civic responsibility skills. I have had the pleasure of knowing Gurleen Sahansra since she began at Forest Hills High School at the beginning of her sophomore year. Being a new student can be a difficult adjustment for some students, but Gurleen never faltered in her academics. Her organizational skills, persistence in times of struggle, and intelligence were only some of her wonderful attributes that helped her along the way. Those same attributes were also helpful in her selection to be a member of our Health Professions program and National Honor Society chapter. Gurleen is a sweet and quiet young lady with a wonderful sense of self and maturity.

It has taught me that to achieve success in any endeavor requires failure, but that is the beauty of the process. As a rising Junior, I am well aware of the challenges I will face in the future, particularly in college; such as the demanding academics and the array of distractions. My aspiration to join the medical field introduces its own obstacles. The rigorous academics and constant pressure to succeed can hinder one’s ability to thrive in an ambitious field. However, Devil Pups has given me the initiative required for such undertakings.

Allow me to introduce myself, I am Bryan Le, a freshman that is currently attending a charter school by the name of “Downtown College Prep”. I am currently living with my parents and two younger siblings, one brother and one sister. Over my years in a public elementary school, I had seen others being happy because of one’s help and that made me feel happy inside. I then thought of ways to help others when I stumbled upon the fact that doctors help people everyday, which seemed as a great way to help many people so that they may continue to be happy in life. As I entered Downtown College Prep, I was urged by the staff to explore my options and to set a goal in life.

Chris Kyle, an United States Navy SEAL, was a true american hero because he risked his life to save ours. He made the choice to sacrifice his life in order to protect our country. He took his duty as a Navy SEAL very seriously. By taking pride in his job he gained a lot of people 's respect for being a great soldier and an overall great guy. Chris was a hard worker, selfless, and a good family man.

I attend church at Center Baptist in candor, my dad is the pastor. We have a youth group, and one little boy out of the group has slowly stolen my heart right before my eyes. His name is Elijah. He is six, and he loves to sing and play the piano. I also play, I have been playing the piano since I was seven years old.

Have you ever experienced the rush of adrenaline or exhilarated pressure that challenges you? During the week of August 2nd through August 8th, I had the opportunity to shadow doctors at medical camps in Matamoros. Mexico. Also during this time, I was struggling between my career choices for college. On August 6th, I was observing Dr. Joby, an emergency room doctor.

My mind was going wild; I was both nervous and exhilarated at the thought of starting a new school. A new environment and new people meant having to look to fit in all over again. I did not know this yet, but this first day of fourth grade in a new school would be one of my largest accomplishments throughout my life. Growing up in a Spanish- speaking household gave me a new perspective. Much of my upbringing was different than that of my friends, and I had to adjust to a different culture.

When I was thirteen years old, I knew I wanted to go into the medical field. Personally, I felt that that was my passion: to help people. Last year, while I was looking at the course catalog, I saw the words Ethics: Law, Business, and Medicine. Once I saw “medicine,” I put the class as my number one choice. Once I found out we were going to read “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” I was interested but didn’t know how it could help me in the future.

Please describe any contributions of distinction during medical school (in any and all academic areas: research, teaching, teamwork, clinical care, and community service). One of my proudest contributions during medical school was identifying ultrasound education as something that I wanted to expand, so I worked with a small group of my classmates to start an ultrasound education program. The goal of our program was to help our peers learn how to use ultrasound imaging while gaining valuable anatomy and physiology education. We spent countless hours developing a curriculum, finding faculty mentors, and teaching first year medical students.

He was born into a middle-class family which allowed him to be able to have the ability to have access to music at an early age. His mother was a key figure in his life when it came to music. She encouraged him to seek out a musical instrument when he was young. He started playing the piano very early in life, around the age of six, and it soon became clear to his family that he had a natural talent for it. He went on to study the piano and take piano lessons, per his family’s suggestion, soon after his talent was discovered.
