Abuse Of Power In Lord Of The Flies Essay

The distinction between the ruled and the ruling class was created. Humanity was lost and the ruling class became crueler and enjoyed the power. The rulers became dictators.  People do not rebel against brutal dictators out offear -they are afraid of retribution if their rebellion fails, they do not know what atrocities the brutal dictator can do to them so they are afraid.  

This can lead to corruption. Over using the power given to an individual can cause that individual to do things out of the ordinary. It can lead to a whole country rebelling against the government to change the system that they are running. Also, the fight to attain power over another individual can lead to family

The human nature is naturally dark- we come from animals. Everyone, no matter who they are, always has the animal instinct that they are above all, and they should get what they want. This creates a power complex among humans-- the difference between humans and animals, though, is that humans make it possible to act of this. This causes horrible things such as the Holocaust to be created and acted upon, killing millions.

With this in mind, I could connect with two people who also thought about how evil people can be. William Golding and Elie Wiesel wrote books that magnify the circumstances under which people act evil. Wiesel explores the conditions and the uncivil actions of the people in concentration camps during the Holocaust. Golding, too, takes a dive into the human capacity for evil in post-WWII times. If you are reading your history book, a play, or even watching the news today, you will see how people abuse the power that they have over somethings. There have been many leaders and people who abuse their power over civilization and places. Even the littlest taste of power often leads them to corruption. Many times, citizens and adversaries riot over some of the things that they disagree on and, in some cases, murder comes in to play.

Once an individual has the freedom to exert their power over other, the latter is in for quite some misery. Power s a hunger that should and will never be

The lust for power, the greed behind every person, leads them to choose power over cause, stripping them of moral in exchange for a greater state of being.

Evil is profoundly immoral actions, evil is being malevolent. Everyone does evil things like hit someone, or call them names, it’s something people do before they understand it's wrong. Even after people learn that it’s wrong they still use it throughout their lives, but why? Evil and fear is created by people who strive for power and the need to feel wanted. In William Golding’s “The Lord of the Flies” the creation of evil and fear is demonstrated through different symbols.

Evil is timeless. It feasts on four year olds and forty-four year olds. It comes in the forms of greed, sloth, gluttony, lust, wrath, envy and pride. Though, no matter which inculcates itself in the mind of a human being it is always fueled by a lack of understanding and the absence of a greater appreciation for oneself, for the world and the other lifeforms in it. One of the most notable presentations of evil in all of human history lies within the workings of a single German man, Adolf Hitler.

Evil exists inside of everyone. In the novel Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, a group of young boys are stranded on an island, with no adults to guide them. Although the group starts out organized and civilized with Ralph as their leader, Jack disrupts this balance. He is the one who convinces everyone that hunting is much more important than being rescued or following rules and this makes him more popular with the boys. As Jack gains power it is like a rubber band continuing to be stretched more and more until it finally snaps back.

People, for the most part, are inherently good. It is life that makes them evil, people are affected by events, influences, and circumstances. For the most part, there is an explanation for every “evil” person 's behavior. I will focus on the impact that conditions have on people, as well as the cases of inherently evil people. The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls is a perfect example of inherently good people making poor choices and hurting others because of the things that have impacted them.

Power can have the persuasive action in undoing the moral ethics of one’s character. This can be seen throughout history, such as World War II and proven by the actions of Napoleon in the allegory, Animal Farm, by George Orwell. As Lord Acton said “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” In history what was viewed as a villain, is never the same as the perception. A leader does not begin wanting to do wrong, they start with the best intentions, but power is a tricky thing.

Evil has always been evident, throughout the history of man examples of evil are apparent, so why would our literature be any different? Written in 1959 William Golding's novel Lord of the Flies is no different, as its theme explores the natural evils of man through the plot. The book tells of the events that occur after a group of young boys are marooned on an island, the main characters Ralph, Jack, Piggy, and Simon, grapple with finding food and water while they struggle with the return of more animalistic instincts without the guiding hand of civilization. The intrinsic evil and unavoidable sins of man are are exposed through William Golding’s characterization and overlying themes in Lord of the Flies. Man as an individual carries evil

Firstly, man is born evil because society shows him to be evil. An example of this is how parents must raise their child to be good. A parent never has to raise their child to do bad things. A young child might draw on the wall and believe that it is art, however the parent will stop the child and tell them that drawing on the wall is a bad thing to do.

Evil is a simple word that we learn at a young age and that we understand is bad. However, our youth and innocence prevents us from knowing the weight the word holds. As our understanding of evil develops, we begin to see evil all around us. Although we hold common societal definitions of evil, each person is bound to view evil slightly different from others. Someone might consider alcoholism evil, while others consider it normal: someone might believe racism is evil, while others believe it is natural.
