The disadvantages are that it can be more difficult for the family members to provide care. The advantages of hospice care are that they provide a warm, supportive environment for the dying. The disadvantage is that they do not focus on extending the life of the dying, they only want to make it comfortable for them to do so. Hospitals are impersonal, have less visiting hours, they are designed to make people better, it is very expensive to provide care for dying people. Hospitals are not equipped to provide the terminally ill patient and family with emotional support. (Pg.
Perception of aging and BSN core competencies discussion My perception of aging and senility were different when compared with the facts on aging pre-assessment quiz. The prevalence of individuals that have symptoms of dementia is much higher than I believed. Another misconception I had was believing elderly people were happier than younger individuals. Honestly, the thought of retiring, experiencing the freedom to spend time with loved ones, and enjoying hobbies would lead me to think elders would be happier than younger people.
As the foundations of a successful government system, political parties help keep balance of power and uphold the Democratic ideals of the United States. These parties have origins that can trace back to the early sectional tensions in America. These sectional tensions were the primary reasons for the development and progression of political parties in the United States. As early as 1800, signs of deviation would appear.
This leads me to wonder about the effects that absentee parents have on their kids' development. Without a parental figure or without both parental figures it is up to the children to parent themselves without the “...rules, discipline, and support” that is supposed to be provided to them by their parents. So what effect does the lack of these traits have on a child's development? This question is answered by a UMASS Amherst study where it is stated “Previous research has suggested that long term separation, from parents or parent, has the following adverse effects: depression, loneliness, anxiety, anger, behavioral problems at school, low academic achievement motivation, lack of self-esteem, misbehavior, truancy, and stealing. ”(He 1).

A hospice provides a more suitable environment for those at the final stages of their lives compared to a hospital for a multitude of reasons. Hospice care is designed to care for all aspects of the person life; they provide physical, mental, and religious services, as well as caring for the patient’s family. Since hospice care is also available at home, the patient has the opportunity to die in familiar surroundings. On the contrary, hospital care provides primarily physical services to the patient and is focused on the patient’s disease. Also, dying in a hospital can be less pleasant because a connotation of hospitals is illness which is a negative quality compared to that of a home, where a person is surrounded by their memories and belongings.

In the textbook Classical and Contemporary Sociological Theory, we are introduced to some of the first sociologists and their theories. Two sociologists that are relevant to present issues about racism would be Emile Durkheim and W.E.B. Du Bois. In Durkheim’s The Rules of Sociological Method, he mentions that crime is necessary for society because it “defines the moral boundaries of a society” (Appelrouth and Edles 2016: 99). Basically without crime, people would not realize what the definition of right and wrong behavior is. Having crime in our society makes us realize our morals and basically institutes the idea in our head that criminal acts are not appropriate behaviors.
