The American Revolution was a time of political turmoil and conflict that happened between the British and the thirteen colonies during 1765 to 1763. The colonists rejected the British monarchy and aristocracy because they believed they should be able to govern themselves. The colonists acted out against the British and their rules, ultimately causing the American Revolution. We know the outcome of this; America declaring the freedom of the colonists from British rule. During the American Revolution, the colonists needed ideas and support to clear themselves of British power.

The question is how the revolutionary war changed America. The American Revolution instigated much change within the newly independent nation, particularly political and social, and to a lesser extent, economically. Although there was a slow change in America socially there was a lot of change politically the colonist rebelled against the king. America had some social change women, and slaves experienced change in society as women gained more freedoms and many slaves were set free. Overall, our nation experienced the majority of its change politically, and social issues, but change was still seen to a lesser extent economically.

The Revolutionary war was massively revolutionary for the American colonies. After the war, many people’s lives were changed from horrible to somewhat better, even if it took 100 years like how women got their equal rights to men in 1920 (Document 8), how African Americans were all free and not slaves in 1865 (Document 5), how American Indians wern’t getting attacked anymore (Document 9), and how the richest people in the country became equal to some of the poorest people in the country in rights and in wealth(Document 2,3,4). This really impacted many lives for everyone and this all was changed or influenced by the outcome of the Revolutionary war. Unfortunately, reality is often the opposite. The American Revolution was a major turning point in American society due to the political, social and economic reforms instigated after they gained their independence. After breaking away from their mother country, Britain, the Americans formed their ideal society in which the people held more power than the government. During this time women and slaves experienced more freedom within society. Women were allowed to serve in war and many slaves were set free. Because the United States was a new nation who just gained independence, they were still struggling to pay back the war debt thus there were less economic reforms than social and political.

There was much change in the time between the Civil War and World War I, two of the biggest wars fought by the United States. The US went from a frontier land to an industrial enterprise. In this time there was the introduction of steel which led to the transcontinental railroad lines. Above all there was a change in Civil Rights, The Emancipation Proclamation was written. giving rights to slaves, woman suffrage grew, eventually granting women more rights.
