From the circus to television shows, animals are used constantly to entertain the masses as they are forced to act out in order to promote a business and help them gain money. Rather helping the enterprise obtain more green, they are forcing these poor creatures to forcefully act, some of these instances lead to animal retaliation. For instance, Tilikum, the killer whale from Seaworld, constantly killed many of the employees as Tilikum tries to convey those that he does not belong in the entertainment platform, but many executes disagree and forced the whale to perform many dangerous stunts, leading to Tilikum’s death. To the entertainment businesses out there, these animals aren’t actors and they should be going through physical altercations
Blackfish written by Gabriela Cowperthwaite. From the start attraction at Sealand of the Pacific in 1969, the aquarium grew attention for their orcas that would perform. Years later a two year old whale was captured and arrived in 81’. His name was Tilikum, coming in at two years old and 4,000 pounds. How do you go about taking orcas out of their setting, changing how they feel, and go about certain lies of how situations occurred?
Hannah Ton Mrs. Braun Honors American Literature 1 November 2015 SeaWorld Orca Breeding Should Not Be Continued When Dr. Heather Rally, a veterinarian who specializes with marine mammals, visited SeaWorld, she witnessed an orca with a severely collapsed fin and asked an “educational” guide why its fin was bent. The guide replied that it was a genetic trait just like curly or straight hair. However, Rally knows the truth, scientific evidence suggests that the high rate of dorsal fin collapse in captive orcas is due to conditions of captivity. These include spending an abnormally long time at the surface in direct sunlight and continuously swimming in tight circles.
Jonathan Safran Foer’s Eating Animals is a book about persuasion. Foer seeks to convince his readers to take any step in reducing what he believes is the injustice of harming animals. To achieve this, Foer employs many persuasion techniques and often changes his approach when he targets specific groups. His strategies include establishing himself as an ethical authority and appealing to his readers’ emotions, morals, and reason.
Undergoing human experimentation, prodding and poking, and irrelevant training exercises, whales in captivity are forced to live in an unnatural and inhibited manner. The line between animal cruelty and human entertainment is one that has been a blur in a recent studies. Human entertainment and boredom should not give rise to the mistreatment of animals in captivity. If parks wish to remain open, then special precautions must be taken to both ensure the safety of human trainers and workers as well as happiness and comfort of the animals. If held captive animals should be given habitats that are as close to their
Animals once worshipped like gods are now abused and used for entertainment. The circus and SeaWorld, two places common for entertaining children, display their animals in grand shows, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg of the truth. Hidden, are the cruel practices, immoral punishments, and unhealthy psychological effects that most of the animals experience. There is a reason why animal rights activists protested. There is a reason why Sea World is ending its world famous Orca whale shows.
Killer whales were initially captured in the 1960s, when a female orca was captured and put into a tank. Two days into the female orca's stay she repeatedly bashed her head against her tank wall and perished the following day. Unfortunately, people did not heed or take any precautions from this traumatic incident and since then killer whales all over the world have been captured for entertainment purposes and have been stored in facilities such as SeaWorld. From these types of facilities incidents continue to happen such as killer whales killing their trainers, killing themselves, dying due to medical conditions, and more. Continuous accidents such as these have caused suspicion among the public of whether killer whales live healthy and prosperous lives in captivity and brings up the concern of ethicality.
I believe that genetic impairments were the cause of King Tutankhamun’s death, along with malaria. A recent autopsy confirmed from 2000 computer scans showed that there was a relation to genetic impairments from King Tut’s parents, who were brother and sister. Evidence behind King Tut’s potential genetic impairments is that there were 130 used walking canes found in his tomb. Do to the relation of Tut’s parents, he suffered from a partially clubbed foot. This impairment wouldn’t be able to let him ride on a chariot.
How can anyone look at the whale crying and think that is morality because it is not. Whale ate one of the trainers. Tilikum is responsible for the deaths of 3 individuals, including a top killer whale trainer, Dawn Brancheau. Blackfish shows the devastating consequences of keeping such intelligent and sentient creatures in captivity. They knew Tilikum was dangerous because in his profile information it states, “Sometimes lunging toward control trainer” 70 plus killer whale trainer accidents but no one talks about them.
The general argument made by author Kelly Wallace in her work, “After Sea World, a “Blackfish effect” on circuses and zoos?”, is that places with animals in captivity are under fire. More specially, Wallace writes, “the public has completely changed its opinion on exploiting and killing animals for entertainment.” (Wallace para 3). In this passage, Wallace is suggesting that people now believe that animals should be protected, cared for, and healthy not overworked or abused. Animals are not supposed to be in small cages for people to look at.
King Tut has died a mysterious death. There are three theories I believed that have caused King Tut’s death. One theory was murder, I think he might have been murder by Aye and Horemheb. Another theory was an illness. The third theory was a chariot crash.
“The simple truth is that animals should not be used for human amusement. The process is often unnatural and cruel from start to finish” (DeRose 2). Obviously, the use of animals for entertainment purposes is unnecessary. There are many other ways to be entertained, people who want to entertain by choice. As a result, if there are people willing to perform by choice, why should society allow animals to perform by
Animal cruelty is becoming an issue that is too big to ignore. It can be defined as neglect or the infliction of pain or suffering towards animals. One might notice that this is an issue that is becoming more common in zoos and aquariums. These places can be wonderful for the animals, but can also portray an awful life for the captive animals. No animal should have to go through the pain and stress that many are suffering through.
Animal Cruelty Have you ever wondered how much atrocious animal treatments are occurring around the world? The average number of animal abuse cases reported in the media each year is 1,920 according to a study conducted this year by Statistic Brain Research Institute. Moreover, a lot of animals struggle around the globe because they are often beaten, neglected and hunted, which forces them to fight for survival. Helpless animals continue to be exploited by humans and are still constantly being robbed of their lives. Thus, animal cruelty is the killing, exploiting and neglecting the needs of animals that are causing extinction and nonessential suffering.
Many people go to circuses, zoos and other forms of entertainment and only see the good side of it. They do not realize and see the animal cruelty behind the scenes. Due to the constant travelling circuses has to do, animals are forced into confined and barren cages when relocating. Their movement in their cage is very limited. Mainly in circuses, employees have been using violence to train and discipline their animals.
These acting are a bad behavior and cruelty. The important thing is human who killed those animals. There are many positive aspects about killing animal but there are also some negative aspects. Thus this essay discusses both side of issue.
