Selena grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, a city that resides on the border between Mexico and America. Selena's music often addresses the life story of borderland experiences and the issue of identity and belonging. Her legacy has had a significant impact on the meaning of borderlands today. She sang her music in both English and Spanish and addressed people on both sides of the border.
