Analyzing Elie Wiesel's 'The Night'

In Night, written by Elie Wiesel, the hanging of the little Dutchman pipel in chapter 4 symbolizes the death of faith in religion among Elie and other Jews who witnessed the act. In the plot, the young pipel was killed mercilessly by SS officers. During his execution, carried out alongside two other inmates, all found to be in possession of arms, onlookers were desperate for God to offer his supreme help. “Where is merciful God, where is He?” (64) and “For God’s sake, where is God?”

In Night by Elie Wiesel and Surviving Auschwitz by Primo Levi, the two authors portray the attitudes during selection differently. In Night, Elie tells how the guards are saying brutal things very calmly, “Men to the left! Women to the right! Eight words spoken quietly, indifferently, without emotion. ”

Night is a book written by Elie Wiesel in which he tells his stories and experiences in the Nazi concentration camps at Auschwitz and Buchenwald during the Holocaust and Second World War. I would recommend Night because it’s written by someone who felt the horror of the Nazism in his own skin, so the book really shows the reality of the death camps and the atrocities that happened there. It is important to study and know about the Holocaust because it’s a terrible event which, in a historic perspective, occurred not long ago and its effects are still present in today’s society in such a negative way. The Holocaust did not only affect the people who died at the concentration camps, it also affected the survivors and the rest of the whole

Elie Wiesel was a victim of the Holocaust. In the beginning of the story, Elie strongly believed in God, he prayed every time to his lord and savior. His mood was comfortable, he was strongly capable of staying in his current state of life for many years. In the story, page two, line eleven and twenty-eight. Until after Hitler came, the Holocaust was starting to take in affect, causing Elie to feel unease, when he and his family was forced into concentration camps, he experienced loads of torture, fear, and madness.

Elie Wiesel’s “Night” depicts death, obliteration, and anguish while directly depicting the suffering he witnessed during his time at Auschwitz, a concentration camp for Jews during World War II. Within the story, there is an overwhelming amount of times the Jews had been in distress. Many children had been separated from their parents and all of the Jews were taken from their homes. Their suffering seemed endless. They were no longer teachers, homeowners, or priests.

“The word - is a great instrument of life” Words are the garb of people’s thoughts. Words can be very powerful and influential both in the society and among people, because whether or not someone choose the right words could change someone's life forever. Brilliant examples of power of words took shape in world’s history. A holocaust survivor, Elie Wiesel, who survived the concentration camp, wrote a book ‘Night’, as well as he introduced his acceptance speech to different people all around the world. He sought to restore the amicable and tolerate society where there is no place for such a word as ‘hate’.

In the novel, “Night” Elie Wiesel communicates with the readers his thoughts and experiences during the Holocaust. Wiesel describes his fight for survival and journey questioning god’s justice, wanting an answer to why he would allow all these deaths to occur. His first time subjected into the concentration camp he felt fear, and was warned about the chimneys where the bodies were burned and turned into ashes. Despite being warned by an inmate about Auschwitz he stayed optimistic telling himself a human can’t possibly be that cruel to another human.

The Holocaust can easily be defined as one of the most tragic events in history. Masses were left never knowing if death or life was ahead of them. Among the multitude of people affected by the Holocaust, was fifteen year-old Elie Wesiel. Wesiel’s memoir Night written and released in 1960 about his captivating experiences in the Holocaust. Though there were not many survivors of the Holocaust, many of them survived by finding strength through human connection whether meeting a random person in passing or finding strength in family.

Elie Wiesel was truly a courageous figure during the torturous years of the Holocaust. In his best selling novel titled Night, Elie portrays many events that completely shatter most human rights laws established by modern day activists such as the United Nations. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, there are thirty different articles established to protect us from people violating our treasured human rights. Within the declaration, two articles really stand out for Elie’s situation such as article five and eighteen. Both of these articles accurately despic great human rights violations that were performed throughout Elie’s experience during the mournful Holocaust.

To find a man who has not experienced suffering is impossible; to have man without hardship is equally unfeasible. Such trials are a part of life and assert that one is alive by shaping one’s character. In the autobiographical memoir Night by Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, this molding is depicted through Elie’s transformation concerning his identity, faith, and perspective. As a young boy, Elie and his fellow neighbors of Sighet, Romania were sent to Auschwitz, a macabre concentration camp with the sole motive of torturing and killing Jews like himself. There, Elie experiences unimaginable suffering, and upon liberation a year later, leaves as a transformed person.

Wiesel, along with a French girl both portray how both of them couldn 't express how they feel and what they want to say due to their silence caused by fear. As shown in the novel, Wiesel writes “I knew she wanted to talk to me but that she was paralyzed with fear” (53). Chapter One Summary: In chapter one of Night by Elie Wiesel, the some of the characters of the story are introduced and the conflict begins. The main character is the author because this is an autobiographical novel. Eliezer was a Jew during Hitler’s reign in which Jews were persecuted. The book starts out with the author describing his faith.

Night Critical Abdoul Bikienga Johann Schiller once said “It is not flesh and blood, but the heart which makes us fathers and sons”. But what happens when the night darkens our hearts our hearts? The Holocaust memoir Night does a phenomenal job of portraying possibly the most horrifying outcomes in such a situation. Through subtle and effective language, Wiesel is able to put into words the fearsome experiences he and his father went through in Auschwitz during the Holocaust. In his holocaust memoir, Night, Elie Wiesel utilizes imagery to show the effect that self-preservation can have on father son relationships.

Through contrasting the lives of Elie Wiesel, and the fictional character of Giosue from Life is Beautiful, in the concentration camp, the evolution of the father-son relationship over time can be seen. Before the war had come to the forefront, both the lives of Wiesel and Giosue are similar in the basic sense. Their relationship with their father was, for the most part, one of reliance -- a bond similar to that of a teacher and a learner. Through the experiences documented in Night, Wiesel tells of how he saw his father as a leader, and as a protector. Wiesel remembers, “his [father 's] advice on public and even private matters was frequently sought” (4).
