He was also one the wealthiest men of his time and helped transform the steel industry. Andrew Carnegie could be considered to be a hero in many ways. He helped create jobs, transformed the steel industry and also helped other industries, and was an influential philanthropist. Many of the people at the time were poor and living in poverty. There weren't many jobs; and the one that they did have didn't pay enough to sustain a family.

The context of Andrew Carnegie becoming a Caption of Industry is the industrial revolution. Industrialism is the expansion of factories and the mass production of manufactured goods. The Industrial Revolution of the early 1900s set the foundation for the rise of Andrew Carnegies steel. While some people think Carnegie is a Caption of Industry because he got to the top by going from rags to riches, his monopoly act, and being a good businessman, evidence suggests he is a Robber Barron because he would pay his workers such little amounts and would make them work many hours, he would also make it hard to compete against him. Andrew Carnegie is a questionable man; he went from living a very poor life as a child to being a billionaire.

Andrew Carnegie, one of the best businessmen in all of american history. Most consider Carnegie as a robber baron but I disagree. I say that Andrew Carnegie was in the place of a captain of industry. Carnegie was a captain of industry because he was the world's richest business man that came from a poor shoemaker house in scotland and once he sold away his massive company he turned to the people and became a philanthropists.

Andrew Carnegie was the greatest men of all time and also the man who built up one of the American steel industries and grew amazingly wealthy within the process. After retiring from his business, he contributed most of his riches away to projects that would benefit the public, such as building libraries. In the other hand, Samuel Gompers, who led and formed the American Federation of Labor in other to help working class people earn better pay and working circumstances. He continued his effort as a supporter of the labor program well into the early 1900s. Carnegie makes the dispute that great industrial companies have been noble for both the wealthy and poor.

The context given over Andrew Carnegie led me to believe many things going towards him as a human. Andrew Carnegie had many things accomplished in his life there is much evidence backing up him as a businessman, boss, and one of the richest men in the world. Andrew Carnegie was a classic rag to riches tail, from him coming to the US as an immigrant to being one of the richest and most eager men in the world. He immigrated to the US due to the swinging door policy the states had, allowing new races cultures, etc, to come over to the US and began a new life. During the time he immigrated to the US, there was a large-scale boom in the economy due to the industrial revolution allowing there to be more potential for success.

He’s an ambitious man that lacks the significant achievement and the care for others. Andrew Carnegie was an ambitious man, who focused mostly on success not the people. He was determined to succeed by using his business skills. Carnegie was one of the first to use vertical integration, which is the control of the production process from raw materials to manufacture and sale of finished product. He owned many properties using vertical integration.

The men that built America as they are called, are in fact Captains of Industry. Without them America would not be what it is today, the jobs they created and the things they invented helped make America a world power. Carnegie gave away almost his entire fortune before he died. Which was $350 million, in today’s money that is $13.7 billion. The captains of industry helped create thousands of jobs which allowed more people to work.

Carnegie was not a hero, because a hero does a deed selflessly, but he thought a lot about himself. 184,400,000 dollars was spent on big-name corporations and associations that would honor him by naming a meaningful belonging after him (Doc C). Carnegie was a man who wanted to feed his ego but should have donated money to help the community, not make himself known.     Andrew Carnegie was not a true hero. Many may say, going from rags to riches makes Carnegie a hero.

The late nineteenth century was a pivotal moment in American history. During this time, the Industrial Revolution transformed the nation, railroads had dissipated all throughout the country, and economic classes began to form, separating the wealthy from the poor. One of the wealthiest men of this generation was Andrew Carnegie, a Scottish immigrant who fled to America to make millions off the railroad, oil and even steel businesses. Carnegie is considered one of the richest men in history, and even with all that wealth he decided to give back to the community. As a matter of fact, Carnegie donated most of his funds to charities, universities and libraries in his last few years.

The captains of industry believed that the poor people were inferior to the rich people. The rich were superior because they had “wisdom, experience, and the ability to administer”. The duty of a rich person was to help out a poor person which was what was said in the Gospel of Wealth. The Gospel of Wealth is about how the rich person's responsibility is philanthropy. Carnegie believes in charity work so he would donate to libraries, and universities and schools and etc.

Andrew Carnegie was a “robber baron” as shown in the way he acted towards the people who helped him reach the top and the terrible working environment that he subjected his workers to. He did various things in an attempt at overshadowing the awful things he did and positively alter his public image. His mentor, Thomas Scott, taught him the skills he would use to become the undisputed king of steel. Costs were the most important aspect of any business and reducing those required cutting wages, demanding 13 hour days and utilizing spies as a way to thwart possible strikes. Many years after Carnegie had gone out on his own, Scott met with him thinking that the years they spent together and all he had taught him would unquestionably result in help in his time of trouble.

During the late 19th century, there was a growth in industrialization. This brought new opportunities for the poor and the rich. For example, Carnegie helped build the steel industry in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, which made him one of the richest man in the world. As Carnegie gained more wealth, he questioned who money should be given to. Carnegie was both a Robber Baron and a Captain of Industry.

Andrew Carnegie was one of the most famous and wealthiest American industrialist during the Industrial Age. He was a robber baron who made a fortune in the steel industry and applied vertical integration to his business. Carnegie contradicted his views as a robber baron because he supported, but destroyed many unions. This made many of his views unethical.

Carnegie was known to be a great businessman but also a cruel, strict boss. He exploited the working class to gain huge profits. He later wrote an article titled “Gospel of Wealth” in which he says there is nothing wrong with making fortunes. His views were very similar to Social Darwinism which used the “survival of the fittest” theory as an attempt to justify actions of the rich. In addition, Carnegie used vertical integration to expand his company.

Andrew Carnegie wanted to create a capitalist system, which involved the lower class working underneath of the wealthy, who would then give their surplus of wealth to society The duty of the wealthy is to set an example of modesty among the wealthy, to provide for the needs of those that depend on him and to lend money to his fellow man to give back to the community. The man of wealths duties as carnegie explained in paragraph nine is to “provide the poor a trustee and a sole agent that provides them with wisdom experience and doing for them better than they would do or could do for themselves.” ( Carnegie, paragraph nine). THis system would give the wealthy many responsibilities, but Carnegie believed it was their duty to help others when they were unable to help
