Andrew Johnson was doomed from the beginning of his political career when Lincoln asked for his vice-presidency. Johnson was an untrusted Southern Democrat that was not worth his weight in gold. After the assassination of Lincoln, the Radical Republicans had hoped his hatred for the planter aristocrats would help their cause in the form of the Wade-Davis bill. His rooted beliefs to help the less fortunate vanished when he realized his power over the southern aristocrats and passed the "10%" Reconstruction Plan instead. He pardoned the southern congress men, accused of treason, and continued to veto bills that would promote the freedmen.

Johnson wa known as one of the best debaters in the community. But once his time as the 17th president came , he was not on the same boat as many other people in office and because of this he was impeached . Following this the impeachment process did not work . Johnson was too carry out Lincoln's plan but that's not what happen . first Johnson removed secretary of war Edwin M. Stanton .

The year is 1832 Pablo King, Henry Clay, and Nicholas Biddle is super stressed out about the Bank of The United States closing. Pablo King is a senator from Georgia and owns a cotton plantation with lots of slaves on it. He also is an immigrant from Spain. The president, Andrew Jackson, is very sick in the White House suffering from a gunshot wound. The infection is spreading throughout his body making him weaker.

In the article “Abuse of Power: Andrew Jackson and the Indian Removal Act of 1830,” the author, Alfred A. Cave, writes about President Jackson’s abuse of power. He is arguing that Jackson abused his power when he was enforcing the Indian Removal Act. He argues that Jackson broke guarantees he made to the Indians. He uses a political methodology and uses secondary sources.

In the U.S Constitution, it states that if President is convicted of any treason, corruption, or any other high Crimes and transgressions they can be removed from office. However, there are many steps to being impeach. The first thing in order for the President to be impeach is when the situation of the President brings attention to the members of the House of Representatives. Next, they are handed over to the House Judiciary Committee to see if the situation is serious. If the situation is serious then the president would be presented to the U.S Senate to decide if he should be impeached.

People would respond to his madness very negatively, which would make him even madder. Soon people were writing articles in newspapers about trying to impeach the president. The house of representatives wanted Johnson impeached badly enough to where it created an impeachment committee that would establish the eleven articles of impeachment. I have chosen to do my speech critique on Lyndon B. Johnson signing the Civil Rights Bill of 1964. This speech has changed many lives and helped shape America into what it is today. Lyndon Johnson did this speech at the White House in the East Room. This speech is something everyone should listen to at one point because of how impactful it is. I have always enjoyed history and I believe this is a great speech to critique.

Although the Supreme Court was in favor of the creation of the bank, the fact remains that the National Bank could not exist without the stretching of powers and a loose interpretation of the Constitution. I believe that Andrew Jackson should have been impeached because he went against the constitution.

A new era of election techniques began, with picnics, parades, huge public rallies, mudslinging, and accusations of bigamy and adultery to name a few. With the mass turn out at these functions it seemed the people were engaging in politics. Andrew Jackson did win the 1828 election and became the President of the United States.

Abraham Lincoln’s vs Andrew Johnson’s Reconstruction Plan Lincoln shared the uncommon belief that the confederate states could still be part of the union and that the cause of the rebellion was only a few within the states which lead him to begin the reconstruction in December of 1863. This resulted in plans with lenient guidelines and although they were challenged by Wade-Davis Bill, Lincoln still rejected his ideas and kept his policies in place. Lincoln also allowed land to be given the newly freed slave or homeless white by distributing the land that had been confiscated from former land owners however this fell through once Johnson took office. After Lincoln’s death when Johnson was elected many things started to turn away from giving blacks equal rights and resulted in many things such a black codes which kept newly freed slaves from having the same rights as whites. When Lincoln first acted after the civil war, he offered policies that would allow the confederate slaves to become part of the union again and would allow a pardon for those states.

While Andrew Jackson was in office, he took the spoils system to the next level. The Spoils System was a method of showing favoritism towards a person or group. The Spoils System came into play when the idea of rotation in office was mentioned. Rotation in office is the idea of everyone being able to have the chance of serving in office. For instance, this is something that Jackson demonstrated as he was serving the U.S. As Andrew Jackson was president, he used and idolized the Spoils System.
