In the book Animal Farm George Orwell sets the scene with the animals do hard back breaking work for little to no rations, who’s in charge who has the power to fix all of it? After being inspired by Old Major speech The animals on the farm rebelled and won against farmer Jones. A pig named Napoleon took control as a sole dictator and after a long reign you couldn’t tell the difference between the pigs and a humans. The first technique Napoleon used was propaganda to his advantage, he also used his power and animalism to bend the rules and finally Napoleon used fear to keep his power. Napoleon used propaganda to stay in charge.

The animals did not like being ruled by humans so they started a revolution and kicked all of the humans out. Factory farmed animals have no federal legal protection from horrifying abuses that would otherwise be illegal if they were practiced on dogs or cats: neglect, mutilations, crippling, transport through all weather extremes, and inhumane slaughter. Nevertheless, farmed animals are no less sensitive or capable of feeling pain than dogs or cats, which we cherish as companions. Animals, like humans, are healthiest when they eat certain foods; “Cows, have stomachs that are designed to digest grass. Pigs can digest grass, corn, grains, soy and other plants. Chickens and turkeys can eat plants as well as bugs and worms found on the pasture.”

During the Russian Revolution, Vladimir Lenin was obligated for changing Russia into the Soviet Union just as old Major tried to change Manor Farm into Animal Farm. Events and animals in the book are parallel to the events and people in the Russian Revolution. Animal Farm, which was originally named Manor Farm, is ran by Mr. Jones until the animals take charge. Mr. Jones takes poor care of the animals such as refusing to feed them. The animals decide to rebel against him and take charge of the farm.

Since the animals were like blindfolded, no one made the connection between Boxer's being taken away and the pigs suddenly having more money. The contrast between what the animals believe, what the narrator actually is talking about, and what the reader knows to be the truth, fills one with an anger. (“Animal Farm: Animals Irony”) Animal Farm satirises the breakdown of political ideology and the misuse of power. The major players are animals but their failings are all recognisably human. They begin with an idealistic attempt to form a new society, liberated from the tyranny of humans and founded on the principle of equality and freedom for everyone, but it all goes wrong as the pigs take over.

Jones and all humans, are unjust. He described a place where there were no humans and animals ruled; he spoke of a utopian society where everyone was equal. After Old Major’s passing, the other animals took over the farm and ran out Mr. Jones. After all of this the pigs, Snowball and Napoleon, took control of the farm. They used what Old Major had said to promote “animalism”, or what we would call communism.

The lesson shown in this story is that power can corrupt a society. Old Major, the wisest pig, says that after he dies the animals should rebel against the farmer and start their own government so that every animal can be happy and be equal. Old Major dies, a new leader must be chosen. Two pigs (Napoleon and Snowball) decide to be leaders and try to get the animals’ votes. Napoleon sends the guard dogs to attack Snowball, after that he runs away and doesnt come back..

The animals are tired of Mr. Jones and how he treats them so they overrule him. Napoleon abuses the animals trust and uses his power for evil. Napoleon ends up changing everything in the farm. Many years pass and Mr. Jones also passes away. Boxer and Snowball become forgotten.

However, Orwell depicted, “The animals would still assemble on Sunday mornings to salute to the flag, sing Beasts of England, and receive their orders for the week; but there would be no more debates” (Orwell 54). In the past, the animals had the ability to speak out at the farm Meetings, even if they chose not to. However, now that Napoleon took this right away from them, he got to be in charge of all the decisions for the farm and no one could contradict him. As Animal Farm developed, the pigs slowly disregarded animals’ rights and opinions, and the farm subtly gained more dystopian

Jaewon Shim Ms. Manning English 9B 06 February 2015 Animal Farm Analytical Essay "Orwellian" is an adjective that describes the condition of the society that George Orwell identified as being destructive to the welfare of a free and open society. The adjective suggests an attitude that is controlled by propaganda, the denial of truth, and manipulation of the past. In George Orwell’s novel, Animal Farm, George Orwell develops his ideas about the Russian Revolution through a highly satirical story written in the form of a fable. The characters represent actual people in history during the Russian Revolution, which took place in the years between 1917 to 1944, as it talks about a story of a farm rebelling against a human owner and establishes their own way of running the farm, which was effected by Old Major’s speech who talked about a society where all workers led the society, with no actual leader. However, imbalance of power occur as the pigs, who are the smartest of the animals gain influence by supervising other animals to work.

The plot to revolt commences when Old Major, a boar, gives a speech addressing a dream he has had the previous night. He asks the crowd, “Is it not crystal clear, then, comrades, that all the evils of this life of ours spring from the tyranny of human beings?” (Orwell 4). Old Major is stating that all of the problems in the lives of the animals are caused by the cruelty of humans. The animals demanded a revolution at once.

While being led by Mr. Jones, the animals were held in a stage of slavery and had no power. They were in a position where they were living by someone else’s rules.

COMMODITY: ANIMALS IN FACTORIES Animals should have the right to live a normal life as much as humans do. “When animal factories developed in the early 1970s” (Mason and Singer, 1990) people started to benefit more from the animals. Everyday we eat fresh meat, buy fur clothes but we are ignoring the fact of how these products are produced and coming in our hands, and what millions of animals are going through in these factories. The animals are stuffed inside cages and put in a violent and polluted environment. The truth behind these factories should be exposed, because people should know that it is getting out of control and it is affecting and damaging our environment and human health daily in a bad way.
