There’s a quote that has been my motto for a long time. The original writer is unknown because several people say it and change or add stuff to it but it says, “The best revenge is no revenge.” This might be how I live my life but that was not the case for Mark Antony. In the play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, Mark Antony wants revenge for Caesar's death because Antony is so super loyal to Caesar. Shakespeare uses this loyalty to show how being too loyal to someone or something can sometimes shield what is right and cause you to do something that is not at all good for you or the people around you. Mark Antony was super loyal to Caesar. In the beginning of act 1 scene 2 summary It says that Mark Antony offered Caesar a crown 2 or 3 times. This shows Antony’s loyalty because he didn’t just offer Caesar the crown once and stop when Caesar said no but kept offering the crown to him no matter what. This …show more content…

It shows that everyone knew how close they were to each other they just underestimated Antony's loyalty and how far he would go to defend Caesar’s honor. This helps to develop the theme because it again shows that they underestimate Antony and just how loyal he is to Caesar. He’s so loyal in fact that after Caesar’s death he caused a war to breakout. When Anony is talking to the crowd of people that has gathered around for an explanation for why Caesar was murdered, he undermines Brutus and what Brutus had previously said by persistently repeating how Brutus is “an honorable man” (III.ii.206-226). This is the climax for this theme because it shows that Antony started a war over Caesar’s death. He causes people to turn their backs on those they trusted and thought were honorable, Brutus and Casca, and go out to murder them.
