Do you think killing is compassionate? I think killing is compassionate if the person thinks its the best idea or they are suffering too much to want to live for longer. If they do not want to be killed it is murder. In Lois Lowry's the Giver, the society she came up with practiced Euthanasia on old and the young no matter how healthy or unhealthy they are. They killed even if someone made the smallest mistake like keeping the window open. The main character his jonas is the only one who can feel pain, emotions and see color. When he realises that his baby brother was going to be killed Jonas takes Gabe and runs away.
I think that Euthanasia is good if it is controlled and wanted. In the Giver Euthanasia is called release and it is used if a

After the elderly can not work any more they live in a home with other older people for a few years then they are released. In the Giver Jonas realizes that release means murder and that the old and the young all die early “Release is always like that? For the people who break the rules three times? For the old, do they kill the old too?”(c.20).I think the old get to live for as long as they want or until they naturally die. It is like the old have an expiration date. For us it is called euthanasia and it is legal in most states. If you wish to die you can get aid from another and pass away painlessly. My grandfather joined a group of people who supported euthanasia. Everyone in the group planned to pass away when they had “ No quality of life.” That is what the called. Once my grandfather was ready he had his son drive him to a hotel and supply him with medications. When my grandfather arrived he got scared and lived on until he died …show more content…
I think they should use release as punishment if someone did something crazy and not miniscule.”Immediantailly, the rasping voice through the speaker had said. Leave your bicycles where they are.”(p.2) One part of the book a pilot gets released because he flies over the town accedentally. One thing that you could get in trouble for is leaving your window open. If you do that and two other crimes you are killed. In our society it is the death penalty and it is legal in certain states like Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, and Kentucky. I think that the death penalty should stay legal and that it should only be used if someone does something outrageous. The use of the death penalty should be controlled by the people. In an case I think the people should decide if the death penalty should be enforced. It should not be up to one person to decide if someone
This novel uses the practice of euthanasia. In the Giver, when newborns are born with deformities or health problems or
The fact of suicide is un-describable and usually frowned upon and never talked about. Suicide has many opinions that deal with religion, family, or politics. Assisted suicide is something that is very much talked about in society. This is also known as euthanasia or mercy killing. Assisted suicide is when another person takes the life of a struggling person with the person's permission.
According to Cambridge dictionary, euthanasia, also called assisted suicide, is the practice of intentionally ending a life in order to relieve pain and suffering. Although many think assisted suicide should be legalized in Canada to avoid violation of Freedom of Choice Act, I strongly disagree with its legalization. Permitting euthanasia prevents advancements in care facilities for the terminally-ill, leads to non-voluntary use of euthanasia and diminishes society’s respect for life. To begin with,
When somebody reaches an elderly age, they are released with a ceremony. If someone breaks major rules 3 times, or doesn’t meet the elders (the people who make the decisions) satisfaction when they are a baby, then they get released. Since Jonas is the newest receiver he has special permission to ask if he can watch the release of a newborn child; the giver shows him the video of the release and Jonas is met with the troubled reality of what a release really is, death. “He killed it! My father killed it!”
The possible legalization of euthanasia can cause a great disturbance in how people view life and death and the simplicity of how they would treat it. "There are many fairly severely handicapped people for whom a simple, affectionate life is possible." (Foot, p. 94) As demonstrated, the decision of terminating a person 's life is a very fragile and difficult one, emotionally and mentally. Nevertheless, it’s a choice we can make if it is passive euthanasia being expressed.
I could imagine that it would be hard to let them go, but happy for them to end their suffering. This is why I think that euthanasia is compassionate and humane. The community that Jonas lives in does accept the practice of euthanasia, but in a different way than we do in the real world. Release in The Giver is not compassionate because of they way they describe it and the process. They use release on newborn children, elderly people who are not suffering, and on criminals or people who break the rules of the

It is a time like this in which you are faced with that big decision. Everyone tells you to make the most of it but how can that be done. Your doctor 's office becomes your second home, strapped down to hospital beds is your time to relax. You listen to the shrill beeping of the machines you have become attached to.
Imagine having to endure so much pain and suffering for a majority of your life that you would just want it all to end. Well, there is a way one can stop their own pain and suffering and it is called euthanasia. Euthanasia is the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease. The act may only be done solely to those diagnosed with terminal illnesses such as cancer, aids, and heart disease. Many people agree with the idea of euthanasia as it can help those who are suffering be stripped of all the pain they are enduring.
This miraculous way is called ‘euthanasia’. Euthanasia, meaning ‘good death’ terminologically, is the act of intentionally ending someone’s life to relieve the pain and suffering. It is a fuzzy concept since it creates conflicts between values. Life is a gift given to us and we are expected to live our lives to the fullest. When circumstances turn this gift into a miserable and unbearable process towards death, we might as well want to consider keeping the gift after all.
Tulloch Gail from Edinburgh University Press said that Euthanasia can be categorized in two respects. First, if patients have requests for medical help injection for themselves, it is called Voluntary Euthanasia and did not a request from patients, it called Involuntary Euthanasia. Second, if the doctor injected into the patient died, it is called Active Euthanasia but if the doctor lets the patient died by themselves, it is called Passive Euthanasia (2005). However, Euthanasia is also illegal in some countries.
One reason why patients would want to end their life with euthanasia is because of their disorders and immobility to get around and enjoy things. Euthanasia is a physician assisted
Euthanasia is usually used to refer to active euthanasia, and in this sense, euthanasia is usually considered to be criminal homicide, but voluntary, passive euthanasia is widely non-criminal. Voluntary Euthanasia is conducted with the consent of the patient while Involuntary Euthanasia is conducted against the will of the patient. Beginning with the philosophical aspects of euthanasia we must first understand the importance of the sanctity of life. Human life is sacred because God made humankind in His own image, and that each individual human
INTRODUCTION Euthanasia alludes to the act of deliberately close a life keeping in mind the end goal to assuage torment and enduring. There are different euthanasia laws in each country. The British House of Lords Select Committee on Medical Ethics defines euthanasia as "a deliberate intervention undertaken with the express intention of ending a life, to relieve intractable suffering".[1] In the Netherlands, euthanasia is understood as "termination of life by a doctor at the request of a patient"". Euthanasia is sorted in diverse ways, which incorporate voluntary, non-voluntary, or automatic.
Euthanasia is the end of a person that was suffering from an illness or a traumatic accident in the past that has affected them and changed them to a different person. Most of these people find them self to believe they are a nuisance to others such as family members or some care givers. Euthanasia is the process of end a live of someone in great suffering to relive the pain of whatever caused it in the first place. Euthanasia is one of the most controversial topics because of religious purposes or the choice of choosing a sooner death. Euthanasia is legal in very limited parts of the world.
