My best friend was raped and did not qualify for an abortion. However, my friend decided she wanted to pursue an abortion, but could not receive it due to high qualifications. Therefore, it was very hard for her to give up her own child, but she had to think for herself long-term and if the baby would live a healthy life. It gets tougher in the United States to even get qualified for an abortion due to current politicians, etc. A lot of women suffer with not being able to receive an abortion just because of the high qualifications. Abortions should be completely legal with only a few restrictions. A group called the National Champaign; group that helps with preventing pregnancy and unwanted pregnancy stated that “Only 40 percent of teen …show more content…
A woman should be able to determine themselves on if they think their body can handle a pregnancy. Pregnancy is physically and mentally hard on women and nobody that ever has been pregnant can understand. According to PMC, US National Library of Medicine National Industries of Health, “Women with pre-existing health issues experience a sense of objectification during pregnancy; combined with a lack of control; and the awareness of having an unwell, high-risk body. They also refer to an exaggerated sense of responsibility, constant worry, pressure, and feelings of self-reproach.” Therefore, for example, if a woman accidently becomes pregnant with a pre-existing health issue, they are required to have that baby? It is not fair for laws to have a limit or certain requirements to receive an abortion due to women that suffer from pre-existing health issues. Not only have that, but if any women feel like they cannot take on a pregnancy, why forced them by not letting them receive an abortion? Women that cannot receive an abortion due to pre-existing health issues or necessary their bodies are not strong, not only puts that woman under stress, but it will be highly likely for the baby to arrive earlier than the due date. The baby can also suffer health problems later down in their lives. Not only does abortion help women with pre-existing …show more content…
Therefore, the fetus is not even fully developed yet. Therefore, it is not like woman is getting an abortion at 30 weeks, when the fetus is fully developed. So, the fetus does not cause any damage to the woman during the procedure. Not only that, but most clinics require the female to get a sonogram before the procedure, so, in that case it is not like something that is determined, and done within a second. In order for a woman to get an abortion, she is being ran under many tests to prove that she is now longer than the first semester. Therefore, it is not just brushed off, and the doctor oks the abortion, if she is passed the maximum time of getting an abortion. They perform abortions during the first trimester for a reason, because it also is less stress on the female. Abortions that are done legally are 100% safe, because it is done within a designated time
Around 90% of abortions in the UK are carried out in the first trimester, (before 12 weeks of pregnancy), when the fetus is about the same size as a lime and weighs less than 14 grams. Only about 1 in 1,000 are performed in the last trimester, usually for medical reasons. Most of the gruesome images of aborted fetuses that are presented by pro-life groups are exaggerated and misleading. The fetus that is growing inside the the mother’s womb isn 't considered a human being. It can’t survive alone without the nutrients from the mother, therefore it is not yet a person.
Abortion has always been a controversial topic, and with debates from the recent presidential election bringing abortion back into the spotlight, it is clear that people have varying views as well as a great misunderstanding of abortion. Often, the morality of such action is widely discussed, and stones are quickly thrown. I believe that abortion should be legally and safely obtainable in all cases for women who feel it is the best path to take in their pregnancy. While abortion is currently legal in all 50 states, some lawmakers are working to make abortions virtually unobtainable. For example, in Ohio, a heartbeat bill sat on the desk of Governor Kasich.
In fact, in the first trimester is when ninety percent of the abortions occur. The court deemed that a woman’s rights in the first trimester to have an abortion could not be infringed upon. In the second trimester greater restrictions were put into place. These restrictions in the second trimester would be left up to individual states. These restrictions would be for the health and safety of the woman pregnant only.
Abortion should not be allowed anywhere in the United States. There are many kinds of abortions, but the most populars ones are Spontaneous, Stillborn and Induced. Spontaneous is another word for miscarriage, Stillborn is the death of a baby after the 20th week pregnancy, and Induced is where a doctor inserts medicine to where it kills the baby that is inside of the women’s body. Imagine finding out that you were pregnant and your spouse wanted you to get an abortion? How would you feel?
Abortion is defined as the purposeful termination of a fetus, either naturally or medically (Abortion 2). In this instance, an unborn fetus is killed either through natural causes such as a miscarriage, or by medically induced methods which are assisted by medical professionals. (McFall 188). Medically induced methods are the most controversial of the two because a mother cannot control the natural circumstances of abortion, but medically induced methods are controlled by the mothers who hold full responsibility for ending their unborn child’s life. The question in discussion is, why is abortion legal if a fetus is being denied a life?
A person’s age is calculated from birth which makes it easier to say that you’ve taken a life but that is not the case. A fetus can’t survive on its own; it is entirely dependent on the mother’s body to stay healthy. Some pro-life advocates might also say abortion is dangerous. When abortion is performed by trained professionals, abortions are one of the safest procedures in medicine. Abortion performed
Those who say abortion should be legal, often state that a woman has a right to make the choice concerning decisions about her own body. Abortion is harmful to the fetus, but there are many beneficial things about abortions for a larger portion of the population. Abortions, when allowed by law, in the developed
Having an abortion is a life changing event and carrying a baby for 9 months is also a life changing event. If analyzed one would realize that when a pair of people who do not want a baby get pregnant. It is the woman who often times suffer more. A woman should have the option of whether or not they want to have a baby. Furthermore, abortion is a personal decision that should be between to the baby 's parents and the doctor.
“It’s real easy to say you’re 100% against abortion when you’ll never have to make that decision.” - Anonymous. Women everyday have to make that decision, to decide whether or not to have an abortion, but the catch is most of those women are in circumstances where they cannot gain access to an abortion. “Approximately 25% of the world's population lives in countries with highly restrictive abortion laws” (Abortion..) Women in 74 different countries who have, intentionally or unintentionally, fallen pregnant are not allowed to have an abortion. For many people the idea of not having complete and utter control over their body is unfathomable, as it should be.
Women who are victims of rape will always be in remembrance of their terrifying experience, which sometimes result in neglect and unfair treatment of the child due to the woman’s rape trauma syndrome. Women who are not financially stable that are pregnant and oppose abortion live in poverty. If abortions were banned it would increase illegal abortions which have critical effect to the woman’s health. Statistics estimate that the risk of death from an abortion is 0.6 in 100,000. The risk of death childbirth is 14 times higher, 8.8 in 100,000.
Some people feel that all abortion is wrong, even those that are selective, and because they feel disease or illness is no reason to terminate a pregnancy. There are those that support selective abortion because they feel that terminating the pregnancy will avoid pain. Suffering and lifelong disabilities. According to Ellis and Hartley (2012), nurses have a right to refuse to participate in procedures that result in abortion or in the care of the woman wanting an abortion due to the nurse own personal and ethical beliefs. With this being said, the nurse has the ethical obligation to provide nonjudgmental care and care that is of high-quality when abortion is of an emergent nature regardless of their own personal beliefs and values (Callister, 2011).
I think that abortions should be legal if the woman doesn't want the child because of a rape, financial status, relationship status. I feel that the government should not have control over a woman's body and her choices. I believe that it is wrong for a women to have an abortion close to the end of
She may have family and or financial problems preventing her from being able to properly care for the child. Women are forced to hear both sides of the debate and feel the intensity of a decision. Abortion is the said woman’s private decision and should not be stopped by any law. Only the woman herself knows her body, so abortion is a choice based solely on her feelings. The court case of Roe vs Wade established that
This argument preaches that women who have been raped have the “right” to have an abortion without being criticized. However, this is completely sentimental. If the rape victim decides to have the child anyways, there 's multiple emotional things that could wrongly affect the child. Often, a child produced from a rape will be put up for adoption, which can affect their future and attitude. In other cases,
We have our own decision to make, and this should not be demanded forcibly by anyone. Abortion is the only key to help victims from raping, and this must be legalised to set them free from a sense of mortification, accusation, and tribulation. The term rape is the crime typically committed by a man, of forcing another person to have sexual intercourse with the offender against their consent. The point
