My country is Ariseh. Ariseh is based off the religon of Buddhism. The name Ariseh comes from the word Buddha which means awaken. In 1700 BC Hinduism became the dominate religion in India. The Buddhist were converting as the years went by. However, some buddhist did not like the fact that everyone was converting to Hinduism. They decided to take a stand and make their own country. This country would have only one religion, Buddhism. Everything in the country is based off of it, from the geographic landforms like the Karuna Mountain to the holy worshiping place, Pagoda. Most importantly the country was named after Buddha. In Ariseh there are lots holidays like New year's, Vesak, Dhamma day, and Sangha day. There are also festivals like the festival of floating bowls, Elephant Festival, and The Festival of the tooth. Ariseh followed most of India's structure. For an example their government, in India was Federal Republic and it is in Ariseh too. Also both of them were had a Mixed Economy. Buddhism …show more content…
The people of my country have certain customs with the religion, Buddhism. The people would worship Buddha in the Pagoda. Some other customs include festivals and holidays. One holiday is Vesak which is the birthday of Buddha. The Elephant Festival is another custom and in this festival there are two elephants. One elephant is wild and the other is tame, the tame elephant trains the wild one how to be tame. This symbolizes an older Buddhist teaching the younger Buddhis more about the religion. In Ariseh common foods are rice, wheat, fish, and bread. A special dish in Ariseh is Duck Baffad. It includes 3 tablespoons of salt, 4 cloves garlic, 1 shallot, 6 sprigs thyme, coarsely ground black pepper, 4 duck legs with thighs, 4 duck wings trimmed, and 4 cups of duck fat. Another dish that Ariseh is known for is Rito. In this dish it includes 3 cups whole wheat flour, 1-2.5 of water, ½ to ¾ teaspoon of salt, and 1 to 2 tsp of
Was Firoozeh experience affected from the attack of Shah's visit to President Carter in 1977? As we know Shah was a very powerful Monarchy leader who was coming to visit the President in 1977. During 1977 there were very few Iranians staying in America. The Iranians who were staying were invited to see Shah and the Iranian government would cover all expenses. Firoozeh, Kazem, and Nazireh head out to Washington and they arrived at their hotel and that's when they started receiving threats on a note saying that Americans were going to kill them.

Today in the Dr. Maxine Merlino art gallery I was part of an interview with Artist Norax Ayala. She grew up in the Inland Empire, and recently moved to Long Beach for graduate school. She has always loved art, and she was always coloring when she was younger. She then moved on to watercolor painting, and then real painting when she got older. Her artwork now is inspired by what she cares about most, feminism.

Kimorah is a second-grade general education student from a school in the St. George area of Staten Island, New York. Upon having Kimorah assigned as my student and before meeting her, I learned that through prior assessments it is established that she is on a C reading level, and in the second grade. When I think of second graders, I think of babies that were just born into this world a couple years ago, but among meeting Kimorah I quickly realized that she is a person in every sense of the word. Kimorah is a 7-year-old extroverted girl, who is expressive and full of personality. Consequently, shyness does not affect her, but to break the ice further I decided to conduct a set of fun activities.
For many centuries, a religion and philosophy founded in India (c.525 B.C.) by Siddhartha Gautama flourished along the Silk Road as it impacted the way of living. The transformation of the religion, Buddhism, varied in different ideas and was heavily influenced by its teachings throughout Asia. After the collapse of the Han Dynasty, principles of the Buddha offered great comfort to China and changed the views of the world (Docs 1 & 5). In other areas such as Indonesia and Pakistan, architecture was also transformed into a form of Buddhism as other cultures were mixed into structures and items (Docs 2, 4 & 7). It also became an agent of mental and practical liberation to the oppressed peoples and of economic development to the disadvantaged peoples. “Engaged Buddhism” is defined by the intention of Buddhists of whatever sect to apply the values and teachings of Buddhism, especially compassion and love, to the problems of society in a nonviolent way, and are motivated by concern for others’ welfare, and is served as a channel to express their own Buddhist practices. So, “Engaged Buddhism” is neither a new Buddhist sect nor does it belong to one of the established sects. This engagement is not detached from Buddhist spirituality, but it is a modern phenomenon to express their Buddhism spirits and values to the problems of society (King, The Social Ethics of Engaged Buddhism, 2005). On the other hand, the reason of emergence of “Engaged Buddhism” was similar to the third problem Taixu discovered as I mentioned above.
