Summary: The creation of the Article of the Confederation took place in Pennsylvania, which was created on November 15, 1777 after the Revolutionary war. This was when the members of congress noticed that they should have a rule that will help them be organized and be stablized. The purpose of the confederation was to get a government that can be in union after the Revolutionary war. Analysis: There were several of reasons why confederation was created and the purpose was mainly to give authority to the government and the citizens went along with how they ruled and followed the rights. Some of the purpose was to expand America and Great Britian motivated Confederation so that they can individually govern themselves.

The articles of confederation built the structure for what the United States calls the Government today. Before the constitution the Articles of Confederation played an extremely important factor in creating a unified country. The articles of conferation is an agreement between the 13 states it acted as a "firm league of friendship" for the states by providing an alliance. The Articles of Confederation proved the United States had a limited central government. This then led the founding fathers to agree that a new stronger constitution was necessary thus they ratified the constitution and addressed the need for a stronger central government.

The two most important problems which made the Articles of the Confederation a poor form of government stemmed from their lack of power; specifically their lack of power to collect taxes and lack of power to raise an army. These issues led to the creation of the Constitution and in turn led to more issues due to differences between Federalists and Antifederalists. To combat the new come issues, compromises were struck between the given groups within the government. These compromises were called the Great Compromise and the Three/Fifths Compromise.

Once the American Revolution had ended, America required a new form of government to happen. November of 1777, the Continental Congress accepted the first American Constitution known as the Articles of Confederation. Shortly after the Articles were confirmed by the states in 1781, multiple problems started to arise that provided the United States with an ineffective government from 1781 all the way to 1789. They were not able to address any of the problems dealing with the American Nation due to the lacking features of the government under the Articles. Moreover, the Articles presented each state with too much power that lead to a loose confederation creating a limited power to the central government.

The Articles of Confederation (A.o.C.) was the official government for the United States after independence from Britain. This government was weak, and ineffective. It could not fix the nation's problems which prompted a call for change. The men that changed this government are known are the founding fathers. The founding fathers attended a convention that would be known as our constitutional convention.

The Articles of Confederation was written by Congress. Benjamin Franklin was the first to make up an article and to present it to Congress in July 1775, his draft was never fully considered. John Dickinson from Pennsylvania was the fourth to submit a draft for the Articles of Confederation. Dickinson’s third summit was presented to Congress.

During the Revolutionary war, the leaders of the American colonists thought it necessary to devise a government that would replace the previous British ruling. Their goal was to establish a strong form of government that would give power to the people, representing the same concept that they were fighting for. This would ultimately lead to the creation of the Articles of Confederation. Yet, despite the Founding Fathers' attempt to create a successful national government, The Articles of Confederation were considered a failure, not only because it neglected to give Congress the power to tax, but also for not establishing a strong central government, as well as creating a problem when dealing with foreign affairs.

More than 400 years ago, a group of explorers who chased economic success and religious freedom came to America to start their life as the Crown’s North American Colony of the Great Britain. These people began their life without supports from their mother nation. They survived under the harsh environment which includes starving, conflicts with the Native American, etc. to build their peaceful life in this new continent. However, this peaceful life was broken by their mother nation. In order to pay a great deal of debt after the Seven Years’ War which was between the Great Britain and French, the British government imposed heavy taxes to the Crown which includes the Stamp Act, Sugar Act and Tea Act since 1764.

With the revolution won, the colonist’s drafted the first known constitution as the Articles of Confederation. Favoring power to the separate states instead of a national government, the influence of King George III permanently ridded the conscience of the colonists from one body, or group, having excessive power over the nation. In all, the power came from the People. Regardless of the colonist’s success, however, led to more dire situations in their growth.

After their triumph in the American Revolution, colonists came together as one to forge the United States of America and to reorganize the colonies after the war. The Articles of the Confederation were America’s first form of self-government. During the time period in which they were in use, there effectiveness were tested through events dealing with foreign relations, economic conditions and the settlement of western lands. Although the Articles experienced some success in dealing with western land, the general effectiveness of the Articles was poor and created potential problems for the young nation. In May 1787 55 delegates met in Philadelphia to amend the Articles Of Confederation. They debated about the New Jersey plan and Virginia plan. The states also ratified on how they need the bill of rights. Then they argued about slavery. Many things helped shape the Articles Of Confederation such as how they talked about representation, The states ratification, and slavery.

The Articles of Confederation was the colonies first plan for government during the American Revolution. However, it weakened the unity of the government and the effects of this were events such as, the Treaty of Paris 1783, the Annapolis Convention, and Shay’s Rebellion, that caused leaders to want to revise the Articles. It separated the thirteen states into their own territory under congress and there was no real federal influence. In Article III, it states, “The States hereby severally enter into a firm league of friendship with each other, for their common defense, the security of their liberties, and their mutual and general warfare.” The Articles of Confederation were formed around this idea, to have as little influence on the colonies

Following the Revolutionary War, America had just gained independance from Great Britain and needed to form a new government. The Articles of Confederation were established as an attempt to create a government that was unlike Britain’s. Unfortunately, the Articles of Confederation had several weaknesses. When in the process of repairing those weaknesses, the Federalists and the Anti-federalists formed. The Articles of Confederation were very weak as well as useless to America and because of this, the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists could not agree on a new type of government.

The Articles of Confederation were a document seen as the “first” constitution of the United States. This document granted the new national government power to control the military, declare war, and create treaties between the states. However, the Articles had holes in it considering the government did not have the power to tax, create laws without at least nine states’ approval, or change the Articles of Confederation without a unanimous vote. This means that the country soon fell into debt and petty arguments between state, the new government had no control. It was time for a change.

In one hand, the Articles of Confederation had a weak central government, differing form the strong central government in the Constitution. The Constitution’s government had a structure of three different branches; the legislative, executive, and judicial branch; unlike the Articles of Confederation that had no structure whatsoever. The Articles of Confederation had many problems like, the poor international trade, poor foreign relations and a weak economy in contrast to the Constitution that only had one problem, the struggle over the ratification. the Articles of Confederation achieved the Northwest Ordinance and the Northwest Territory and according to a history website, the Constitution achieved that we had a system of checks and balances, that we had a bill of rights, and, eventually, the survival of a bloody civil war intact. Lastly, the Constitution had three compromises: the Great Compromise, the Three-Fifths Compromise and the Slave Trade compromise.
