By the year 2025 100% of our nation's power will come either directly from the sun or from clean renewable resources like wind and geothermal or fusion. We commit the United States to this endeavor because we choose to take responsibility for the future of this magnificent planet we share with all the great nations of the earth. Fracking is the process of injecting liquid at high pressure into subterranean rocks, and/or boreholes to force open existing fissures and extract oil or gas. Fracking is causing an epidemic economically and environmentally. Fracking is continuously destroying the earth day by day. From the endless fracking today’s economy is depleting.

In the early 2000 Al Gore once said, “The planet is in distress and all the attention is on Paris Hilton.” In the same theme, Michael Pollan writes, “Why Bother?”, an article from The New York Times Magazine published in 2008 telling Americans they are too consumed with themselves and maintain a “cheap-energy mind”. And here, in 2016 climate change is seriously happening and the nation is still not addressing the gravity of the issue and why we should indeed bother to make changes. It is time that this nation discerns that climate change is real and it is happening as we speak. Climate change is a threat to each and every one of us and imperative to the survival of life on this planet.

Cars are the most important products in the modern lifestyle. Whether it’s going to work, school, the mall, or even your friend’s house, it’s likely that you will be using a car to get there. As you all know, cars can have drastically different prices and look drastically different as well. I’m sure everyone here has a car, and I’m also sure everyone here will be buying another car in the future. Whether you want a car that can fit a large amount of people, or a sports car that can go extremely fast, an electric car will almost always be the best option for you.

Everyday people buy plastic things from the cafeteria, from plastic containers, lids on cups, and things as small as straws, and like 50% of plastic used it will be thrown away after one use. However, do you ever stop and think, what happens to the plastic? If you’re thinking that it just magically goes away you 're wrong. It will most likely end up in a landfill somewhere or in the ocean, and as you may think that your actions do not impact the world, think again. Everyone in the world has at least used one piece of plastic, adding to the problem of plastic pollution and helping certifying the terrifying statisticc that acooording to the 2018 Earth day video, “by 2050 there will more plastic in the ocean than fish”, which almost is impossible to think of.

With the growing number of humans and animal life, comes the increasing number of homes, buildings, crops, transportation, etc. As the need for these essential items rise, so does its concerning effects on our world due to climate change. According to Robert Socolow and Stephen Pacala’s article, “A Plan to Keep Carbon on Check,” due to human activities, we the people are the cause for the abundance amount of carbon dioxide released into the air annually (2006). Socolow and Pacala, go on to discuss that at the rate emissions are growing our world is in trouble and need to act now. By making changes and committing to fixing the next 50 years, we can cut our emissions in half over that time (Pacala and Socolow, 2006).
