Behind every great nurse is a great leader. Leaders help establish a drive and a commitment to achieve a goal, and they provide skills to make it achievable. Through some research, a nurse leader that I have come to admire and respect is Patricia R. Johnson, MN, RN. Johnson is Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. By possessing and using leadership skills, impacting others around her, and being a great team player are reasons why Johnson is successful as a nurse leader.

In 1933, Eleanor Roosevelt became First Lady of the United States. Her efforts not only drastically changed our country but earned her the title, “First Lady of the World.” As an activist, she promoted rights for people around the globe. As a leader in the United Nations, she took responsibility for the welfare of the human community. As a diplomat, she worked as the eyes and ears of her polio-stricken husband throughout his presidency.

She makes many points in her speech and gives great examples to her claim. Her claim that President Nixon must be impeachment for the water gates scandal and abusing the power of the C.I.A. she sat in front of the committee with confidence that her speech will help impeach Nixon. I believe she achieved her purpose to pursue the audience and the judiciary committee of the impeachment of Nixon. You can see Barbara Jordan get more passionate as the speech goes on. I noticed that she would become the most passionate when speaking on the actions of Nixon.

Barbara Walters’ career brings words such as “legendary”, “pioneering”, and “inspirational” to mind. She was more than just any other pretty person that was on a TV screen. “Walters was born September 25, 1929, and grew up in Boston, Massachusetts”(world book). From an early age, she had been surrounded by celebrities, many people say this attributed to her relaxed manner while she interviewed people. Her father, Louis Edward Walters, had opened a string of nightclubs called the Latin Quarter.

Black history month is a yearly commemoration dedicated to the accomplishments made by African Americans. As an African American female, I am persistently faced with discrimination, stereotyping and sexism. I am aware that the racism and discrimination we face today is not nearly as atrocious as what my ancestors experienced, but it is still exceedingly difficult being black in America. I give thanks to the great deal of African Americans before my time who fought for our freedom. There are countless blacks who inspire and motivate me everyday.

Barbara Jordan gave a powerful speech regarding President Nixon and his possible impeachment for the Watergate Scandal. Throughout the speech, Jordan expressed her standpoint and reasoning as to why Nixon should be impeached. The main argument that Jordan presents in this speech is that the President should be impeached due to his actions that jeopardize the people of the United States and the Constitution. Barbara Jordan uses a great deal of effective language within her speech. I found her to be very eloquent and expressive when she spoke.

Through Michael Jordan’s athletic success on the court, he was able to make himself and his brand into a cultural icon, which had a great impact on the game of basketball, fashion, marketing, and the economy in America. Before Jordan took on the rest of society, he was focussed on the game of basketball. Jordan was the face of the NBA. He took the game to new heights through his game changing performances. Starting in college at the University of North Carolina, Jordan proved to everyone that he was going to be something spectacular in the NBA.

By showing that she can do that she is setting examples that anyone can do anything they just have to put in the work and never give up not matter what. Like Katherine Johnson known as the woman who loved to count, she also had many other wonderful things in her life like being a wife ,mother, and a right to freedom in history. Her life has inspired many young women around the world to stand for what they want in life and don't hold back and also respect people and make sure they respect

Rosa parks follows another woman, Claudette Colvin. Claudette did do exactly the same thing as Rosa, but she was pregnant at the time so the NAACP though she didn’t have the ability to stand up on her own. Colvin, Parks, Lafayette, Emeagwali, Fuller, Malcolm X, and Bridges are just a couple of the great african-american heroes. Rosa Parks is a influence on all people. She shows everyone that if they stand up in what the believe in they can do all things, even if there are consequences.

She showed all African American women and men that they can achieve the impossible and have an intelligent mind like everyone else. Even African American poets from today like Alice Walker found her as an inspiration. In one of her poems about being brought to america, she perfectly summarizes what the struggle was being a slave that is equal to everyone

In the middle of the novels, during parties, Jordan would gossip about others, like any other conceited woman would. She continuously keeps her cheating in the golf tournament a secret, which shows how dishonest she is. This also shows how far she'd go for the wealth and reputation she wants. Even towards the end of the novel, Jordan remains a shallow person who is worried about her image and reputation.

Amelia Earhart was one of the strongest and influential woman of her generation. Amelia was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Many could not believe what Amelia was accomplishing on her own, in a man’s world. Amelia soon became a legend in aviation. Amelia Earhart wasn’t just a great aviator, she was a true American hero.
