I think that two of the most important benefits of being an APTA member as a student are the student study resources and the ‘getting involved’ information. I think that all the options in the study resources tab would be an invaluable tool to use in researching different topics and scenarios for future classes and clinical rounds. It is nice to know that I can go to a reliable source to search for answers on topics I need more clarification on. The other neat benefit is the special student interest groups in the ‘getting involved’ tab; this sounds like a great way for students to further themselves as future physical therapists. I think it would be quite profitable to be a part of one; it sounds like a great way to communicate and work with other students from Texas in a smaller, more focused setting. …show more content…
I think that being an APTA member starting now, would be another step on my road to becoming a real professional adult. I think that one of the great benefits for members is being a part of an increased advocacy for the profession. If accurate advocacy for all physical therapists results from a larger number of APTA members, I am happy to be a number. I think there has been a lot of hard work in bringing the physical therapist up to a doctorate level; I think that it should be recognized accordingly with, among other things, direct access. Another benefit that is important to me personally is the networking available through APTA. It would be neat to be able to communicate with other students and a great support system. It would be a great way to connect with other students and new professionals excited about furthering the
APTA vision statement for physical therapy “transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience” is an important component that can contribute to the quality of life for all people. I do believe that making the best use of movement can improve one's human experience. The human body is made up of joints and tendons that had evolved to help humans achieve movement. The human body is designed with the ability of movement, no matter how small. Optimizing this ability should help transform society.
Every state in the US has an affiliated chapter branching from the national organization that advocates for all Physician Assistants, known as the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). The American Academy of Physician Assistants handles licensing requirements, networking opportunities, job resources, and provides tools to improve PA practice and patient care for each state and federal service chapter. These individual state affiliations branching from the AAPA are pertinent to the Physician Assistant profession because they allow for more direct and local resources for Physician Assistants. Having an individual state chapter makes it easier to find local jobs in the area and get answers to questions about each state law requirement.
In 1968, American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) formerly known as the American Association of Physician Assistants was established in North Carolina by the first graduate students of Duke University Physician Assistant program. Since then PA profession has grown to tremendous heights. The mission statement of the AAPA is, “To ensure the professional growth, personal excellence, and recognition of the physician assistants, and to support their efforts to enable then to improve the quality, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness of patient-centered health care.” The physician assistant profession has shown remarkable growth since its first PAs started practice in 1967.
I admire the mission statement of the PAS program, as I am a firm believer in providing excellent care to all populations. A Physician Assistant, as well as any other medical professional, should provide compassionate care to those needing it, despite their financial status, race, disabilities, and more. As a future PA, I want to advocate for all populations and let their voices be heard, inside and outside of the walls of medicine. One reason I am compassionate about advocating for my patients is because I understand what it is like to be in their shoes.
Pacific Union College has been instrumental in shaping my journey as a lifelong learner, both personally and professionally. The institution’s student learning outcome, “Maintaining Lifelong Learning,” emphasizes the importance of intellectual skills, curiosity, and creativity in leading lives of useful human service. Pacific Union College has encouraged and nurtured my passion for learning, highlighting the experiences that have profoundly influenced my approach to interacting with diverse individuals. In this essay, I will reflect upon my experiences at Pacific Union College, both inside and outside the classroom, to illustrate how the diverse course offerings, engaging professors and mentors, extracurricular activities, work experience,
The Physical Therapist Assistant is an amazing career I will like to go in because I’ll be helping everyone. I have the skill sets to become a great one because I hate seeing people sad and injure, and I’m ambitions on what I’m doing. The job offers great pay, benefits, job opportunities, and can move up to physical therapist. I’m already working for the Miami Heat and one day I will like to work for the basketball team. I love basketball, so working for the basketball team will be a great fit for me and a life time goal.
Many were medically trained for military purposes such as to assist soldiers and from it came a growing organization. The PA program is actually fairly new and continues to expand. This is great in terms of not having to worry about job security if one chooses this path. Mrs. Hughes also stated that in general the average salary of PA’s is between $90,000-150,000 a year which is conducive when it comes to finical stability. Though this field can be very persuasive I don’t believe that it suits me.
When I grow up as a child, I was setting goals for a future and what to do in life. I choose to pursue Physical therapist assistant which it is a reason why I want to help people, be more responsible, give good attitude to the patients. Next 5 years I will be working in different states at hospital or clinic. I may change to undecided major whether if I want to pursue different major. According to Occupational outlook handbook” Physical therapist assistant observe the patients before, during and after therapy; making notes patient’s status and report it to a physical therapist.’’.
Until, than it is my generations responsibility to make sure that we help our elders. This program does just that! I love the fact that the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority incorporated is so focused on providing help to those older than us. If I was selected as member I would be more than proud to help this program flourish. For example, some of my ideas would be going to nursing homes monthly and playing memory games with the elders, participating in the annual walk for Alzheimer's, and lastly holding programs to get those that are our age aware of this crippling disease.
By saving my money in a bank account, and live a normal human life. But I would like to live locally to my job in a not so small house but a decent house for rent with family and have a wife with also decent money to pay for food, the kids, and bills and then to have family vacations were going to have to save money in accounts and life saving. According to the BLS, another benefit is pay: “The median annual wage for physical therapists was $82,390 in 2014 ("Physical Therapist Ranks Among Best Jobs of 2016") . . The best-paid 10 percent made $116,090, while the bottom 10 percent made $56,800” ("Athletic
Pediatrics is what I plan to specialize in. I have always been interested and fascinated with babies and toddlers. There will be many benefits to becoming a Physician Assistant that will outweigh the negatives of the additional academic workload. Getting the BSN degree upfront, will eliminate some of the prerequisite classes that are needed for the Physical Assistant program. The Physician Assistant requirements, are a minimum 2-3 years of R.N. on the job experience, along with additional (minimum) 3 years of schooling to achieve a master’s degree.
Besides that, I am responsibility, patience and highly efficient person. I know that I have to handle and deal with too many things to become a PTA. For instance, working in the hospital is always busy and stressful, especially in our major requires employees work with the elderly patients or help the patients such as recovering from accident, illness or after a trauma and a coma. And one more reason is that I really like the environment working in areas program such as hospital, rehabilitation or nursing house. I am a very hard working person, I can work too many hours straight.
National Honor society was established to recognize outstanding high school students. National Honor society recognizes students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of academic success, leadership, character and service. I should be in National Honor Society because I think I represent a lot of the qualities needed to be in this organization. Throughout my years in high school, I have been very involved in the band program here at Langham Creek. As a freshman, I started out in Concert 2 band.
I want to be a physician assistant because I want to be the face that people see throughout the healing process. Physician assistants, or PAs, perform small tasks such as taking information about a patient’s medical
APTA Scope of Practice is not condensed to one document, therefore it is difficult to locate all the necessary information. The Scope of Practice is a webpage made up of many links to various subsections of the document. The Scope of Practice for physical therapy includes physical therapist assistants in the scope of practice (American Physical Therapy Association,
