Book Review: HEAT By Mike Lupica

The book has many characters with very different personalities. The book has unexpected twists and turns throughout it. The novel involves kidnappers, a dragon and (of course) the 5 children from Miami that know nothing about what they’re getting into. This book started out as, a fairly normal story.

He is Nates role model. The book starts off in the small town of Valley Massachusetts when Nate and his friends are playing football. The team is winning by a considerable amount. But the Valley Patriots wanted one more touchdown

The book title is Top Prospect . Top Prospect is about a Student athlete in middle school named Travis he was the left-handed Quarterback of the team for is middle school football team . He was well prepared he had the mental part of the game of football but he didn 't have the fundamentals of the game of football . Traviesas coach made a promise with Travis so he would actually have something to put his all into that he wanted , so he has a goal to reach .

The book I chose to read for my book review was “ Killing Mr.Griffin”. It is about 5 high school students who hate their english teacher Mr. Griffin and come up with a plan to kidnap him. Their main purpose is to just torture and make Mr. Griffin think he is going to die. The plan takes a tragic turn and results in Mr. Griffin's death. The plan simply falls apart in a domino effect of terror and grief.

Freedom Summer, by author Bruce Watson examines the courageous and passionate efforts of roughly 100 predominantly white college students as well as several local black Mississippi residents who stood up for change and equality while pushing the limit of uncertain futures. The book discusses the journey these students encountered in order to reach their aim of voter equality and opportunity for blacks in the south. The objective of these students was to create a voter registration system in the heart of segregated and unjust Mississippi. In 1964, they did just that. This “Mississippi Project” as it was sometimes called was run by local civil rights group council in the state known as the Council of Federated Organizations (COFO).

At the end of the summer, Brian is in for the best weekend of his life when the Tigers have a home stand with Hank currently sitting at 499 career home runs. I really liked this book because I could relate well with the main character. Brian is the same age as me and we both like baseball. The plot is very interesting and the end, although predictable, is satisfying.

There was not quite enough descriptive adjectives used to describe the characters in the novel and often left the reader feeling left out or confused. In this quote “Before they got into their parents’ cars, Sam and Coop asked ben if he wanted them to come over once they got out of their gear. ”(p 103) there is little to no emotion given from the characters Sam and Coop even though they just lost their important football game it leaves the reader feeling like they didn’t care instead of being disappointed which they were a few paragraphs before. The main protagonist Ben is described as being 11 years old short and respectful but the cognitive process of the child is matched to one of an adult. In the Main conflict Ben helps Shawn become a better quarterback despite wanting to be the starting quarterback and this is often quite unrealistic because at that age most kids are more worried and focused on themselves and would rarely go the extra mile for others while at the same time giving himself a disadvantage.

Night, by Eli Wiesel and Between Shades of Gray, by Ruta Sepetys takes the reader through a journey that they will end up remembering for the rest of their lives. The book Night is written by a teenage boy that

Another thing I really liked was the way they made the family characters of mom, dad, and Scott. But my favorite thing was the way that they developed Nick’s basketball skill throughout the story. There is a part in the story where somebody is shot by Zack (Trent’s brother) and Trent has to decide if he’s gonna go into running with him or stay for the big championship game with Nick. So I really enjoyed that part because it combined how much I like basketball and the excitement of whether or not Trent would stay or go. In the book it has dad only caring about Nick as much when he was a good basketball player, so I thought it was cool how they sort of betrayed him as a bad guy.

The Book Do You the Monkey Man was the best book I have ever read. This book is a very suspenseful book, it also kept me reading on. Once I got finished reading this book I was very shocked by what had happened. Sam's always wondered where her dad and sister are. Once you read this book you will find out everything.

As the saying goes, “Everyone is different,” from the way we think, to the way we act. Between the semi-rough pages of the book In The Heat of The Night by John Ball lies the process of punishing a criminal. The criminal who killed Wells’ very own Maestro Enrico Mantoli who was supposed to lead the city to fame, popularity, and money. However, nothing is harder in capturing the culprit than investigating the case. In a city suffering from a huge wave of racial issues, two opposing teams working on one case is not a very good idea.

Dear Ms. Beede, The book that I have chose to read is called Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Foer. I chose this book because it was recommended to me and it grabbed my attention from reading only the first few pages. This book is about a young boy by the name of Oskar, who lost his father during the attacks on the World Trade Center. Oskar would participate in scavengers hunts that were put together by his father.

I just finished There is a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom by: Louis Sachar and it was amazing. Bradley goes from a “monster from outer space” to a friend to most. Bradley was hated by everyone. That is until Jeff comes. The book was very emotional, funny, and sad.

My most favorite series book since I professed as religious sister is Harry Potter. I have read it and reread it more than 10 times. This series is all about the chosen boy who do not know his own legend. He is in pain and suffer in numerous experiences. He loses his beloved ones again and again.
