Elie Wiesel was a famous writer, teacher, and activist. He was one of millions of Jews who was put into a concentration camp during WWII, but he was only one of a few Jews who actually survived. Eight years after Wiesel, and the Jews who were still alive, were freed, Elie published a Holocaust memoir, Night. It has now become a bestseller, and is an influential book to show what happened during the holocaust, and to remember those that died. Elie Wiesel was only 15 when he and his family were sent to Auschwitz, Wiesel and his father were separated from the rest of their family.
The book ¨Night¨ is written by a Holocaust survivor and and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Elie Wiesel, who went through terrible things during his time in German captivity. The events were unforgettable and life changing. He stayed with his father through all of these tough times. He escaped the terror of the Holocaust turning him into a savage even though it caused attacks from prisoners and insanity.
English Night Essay The book Night, it is about a teenager named Elie that goes through the holocaust with his father. Elie and his father experienced starvation, injuries and physical abuse. After reading Night, one might wonder why German people do nothing to stop the concentration camps. The people of Germany kept silent because, they were scared of Hitler’s power and, they were scared of losing their own lives.
In the book Night, the author describes his life being a prisoner for the Nazis. In this book, we are described with how Eli survived and what he and his father went through. We learn about how the prisoners were treated in the concentration camps. In the next two paragraphs, I will be sharing my opinion on what I think are the two most terrifying experiences the author, Eli, had to endure.
Wiesel wrote about the concentration camps and the hardships people involved in them og through. Wiesel wrote about a personal experience he had in the concentration camp. Elie Wiesel included many different tones in the story and took you through an emotional rollercoaster. In the beginning of the book, it was sad and gloomy because they mentioned the test they had to go through and if they didn’t pass they would be executed. Wiesel was worried about his father and whether or not his father would pass the test because he was old.
Night, a beautifully written book by Eli Wiesal. He tells the story of what went on in the Holocaust and the struggles he faced to live through it. Elie constantly gets abused and treated like a pest throughout the whole book. The holocaust changed him and almost made him lose his will to live, humanity, and his family. He still powered through until he got liberated by America.
Setting Analysis In “Night” the setting creates a depressing mood which helps express the feeling of how it was to live during this dark time. In the book Wiesel writes with great sadness about the things he witnesses walking down the road. There were people “stranded here, on the sidewalk, among the bundles, in the middle of the street under a blazing sun” (16). The reader can easily imagine people sitting under the hot sun with all their belongings is not something you picture everyday, it's miserable. Wiesel writes about not being able to leave this place and having to stay there.
Loss of Faith and Childhood Innocence Since it first came out in 1960, over 10 million copies of Night by Elie Wiesel have been sold; the moving story recounts the anecdote of a firsthand account of the Holocaust. Professor and author Ellen S. Fine comments that the book "[...] communicates the vision of a nightmare: the voyage from a familiar to unknown world, a son's perception of the slow death of his father and the spiritual death of himself" (48). It outlines the author as a teenager before and during the Holocaust, including his relationships, the horrors he witnesses, and his journey with faith.
In class we read the nonfiction book, Night by Elie Wiesel. It is a story about Elie, as a young teen, being a victim of the Holocaust and the gruesome situations he been in. In the book Elie says, “The world is not interested in us” (Wiesel 33). I believe that this statement is true. The world did not do anything to save the Jewish people and just observed them being treated like objects.
Caroline Garchinsky Miss Nash English 8 4/20/2023 Book Review On “Night” By Elie Weisel Night by Elie Wiesel is a book that was published in 1960. It is set during the Holocaust and tells the story of a young boy named Elie Wiesel who was taken with his family from their home in Sighet, a small town in Transylvania to a concentration camp. Elie Wiesel narrates the account himself with brutal honesty, taking his readers through the darkest moments of his life with vivid descriptions.
In the wake of that event, most people believed it was just a dream, hoped things would soon return to normal, and believed it to be a test from God. Elie himself didn’t know what was coming for him, nor what happened to his mother and sisters when they
I don’t think there is another quote out there that can better summarize life under Nazi rule. I think that this quote really gets the point across that if you see something terrible happening, and don’t try to stop it you’re just as bad as the person doing it. This really tells me that you can’t be afraid to speak up for something that is wrong, even if it means death. The quote mentions that if you stand by and lets all these bad things happen, that you are as guilty as the people doing them. I think that is very true, the counties who sat by and watched the holocaust happen are just as bad as the Nazis.
