Boston Tea Party
The night of December 16, 1773, marked the day of the “midnight raid” which included the dumping of tea into the Boston Harbor as a sign of protest. Many factors came into play that lead to this event such as, the ridiculous taxes implemented by the Parliament, including the Sugar, Stamp, and the Tea Act. Tension had also been growing between the citizens of the colonies and the British redcoats that were stationed there at the time. All of these acts forced the colonists to pay excess money for everyday items like tea, paper, and sugar etc. The colonists believed that they were being deprived of their freedom and rights, so they rebelled against the Parliament by performing an event that would hurt the British economy. This act was directly meant to punish the people of Boston, along with two of the other four acts. These punitive laws would be called the Intolerable Acts by the American Patriots because some of the demands were almost unbearable.
Following the act that closed the Boston Harbor, the parliament passed two more acts to secure their jurisdiction over the colonies on May 20, 1774. These acts would limit the freedom of the colony of Massachusetts and increase the power of the royal governor appointed there. As the colonists grew more and more frustrated, the Parliament wouldn’t stop and would pass two more acts. These were a little different than the past acts because the past ones specifically focused on punishing the people of Boston. The last two acts affected the colonies as a whole and one stated that any member of the British army could stay at a colonial household and expect to be provided with food, shelter, and other resources. The last of the Intolerable Acts was meant to give religious freedom to Roman Catholics and to earn their loyalty if the colonies were to ever rebel

On this day, the American militia and the British army exchanged the first bullets of the revolution and resulted in a victory of the confident colonies. This all started from the general of the Regular army, Thomas Gage, who had a plan to capture the leaders of the colonial rebellion and capture the enemy’s weapons and ammunition by marching through two cities. This plan would start out in Lexington, where the leaders were staying and continue towards Concord, where the weapons were stationed. Unfortunately for the British, this plan was leaked due to the bravery of Paul Revere and other riders who informed the colonists and leaders, Hancock and Adams, about the arrival of the Redcoats, the night before. This eventually led to the safety of John Hancock and Samuel Adams and allowed the militiamen to prepare for the

In 1773, colonists in Boston protested the taxation policies of England, which they felt violated their right to “no taxation without representation.” This tea party was a factor leading to the Revolutionary War (“Boston Tea Party Facts”). In 1768, colonists consumed almost two million pounds of tea - the three million inhabitants of the American colonies were consuming on average of two to three cups everyday. The Boston Tea Party was a direct protest by colonists, members of the Sons of Liberty, against the Tea Tax that had been imposed by the British Government. The tea tax protests resulted in the smuggling of cheaper, non-British tea and boycotts of British tea through Nonimportation Agreements.
The Intolerable Acts: The Breaking Point Two hundred and forty-one years ago, British Parliament passed the Coercive Acts which not only punished the colonists’ defiant behavior but also sparked a war that would change the world forever. The Coercive Acts were a series of four acts that punished the colonists for the Boston Tea Party, they would be restricted until they paid for the tea they dumped into the harbor. The Coercive Acts are a series of acts that were in direct response to the Boston Tea Party that punished the colonists for this event, led to the need for another continental congress meeting, and ultimately impacted the decision for the colonist to declare independence. First, the colonists were punished for the Boston Tea Party. The colonists were punished for the

The political protest known as the Boston Tea Party took place on the evening of December 16, 1773, in Boston, Massachusetts. The political protest was a demonstration of rebellion orchestrated by the Sons of Liberty in order to protest the Tea Act. The royal governor of Massachusetts, Thomas Hutchinson, allowed three ships- The Dartmouth, The Eleanor, and The Beaver- to enter the Boston Harbor. The ships were carrying tea to sell to the colonists on behalf of the British East India Company.
The acts include the Boston Port act, Administration of Justice act, Quartering act, Quebec act, and the Massachusetts Government act. (Journal) The reason that these acts are so important is because they were made to directly oppose the colonists' desire for personal freedoms. The Boston Port act banned foreign imports and exports for the colonies. The Administration of Justice and the Massachusetts government act restricted the colonies rights to a jury of their peers as well as their right to govern themselves removing the small influence that they had.
To start off, the Boston tea party was one of the causes of the American Revolution But before we get into the Boston tea party, we have to know a few things about the French and Indian War. Basically Britain and France fight a war for control over North America from 1756 to 1763. Britain wins, however they went into a big amount of debt fighting in it. After the war, the government of the British decided that the American colonist had to help pay that debt.
Britain felt that they should have the Townshend acts because they still needed money and they wanted to show the colonist that they were still in charge. The patriots definitely fought hard for their freedom and in the end they got their
Between 1763 and 1775, there were three ‘Imperial Crises’ which occurred between the British and the American colonists. The conflict that was produced during this period arose through an undefined balance of political and economic power between the two parties. In 1763, Britain had just concluded the French and Indian war and was left with an immense and almost crippling debt of around 140 million pounds sterling (“Turning Point In American History”). In Britain’s eyes, the most effective way to reduce this debt was increased taxes. Unfortunately, the people of England were already massively overtaxed, which meant the last option for the British was to tax the American colonists.
The Boston Tea Party was a violent, courageous, and an eventful act that took place in 1997 because of constant disputes. It started to become a large issue when the British and English colonist constantly disagreed about the unfair taxes that were charged from the British. The colonists didn’t agree to the taxes at all the the government officials formed a plan. The British put such a hefty tax on the tea because they realized the demand was so outrageously high, and they could make a much larger profit off of it. Colonists did not want to pay the huge taxes, so they started buying/smuggling tea from East India, but the British wanted to have the colonists to buy tea from them because of the taxes.
The prime minister was furious about the Boston Tea Party and punished Boston by passing the Intolerable Acts. These laws closed Boston Harbor until Boston paid for ruined tea, Massachusetts charter was canceled, had a trial with a friendly jury, and General Thomas Gage became the new governor of Massachusetts. British hoped these laws could bring back order instead, it increased people 's
The riot began when about 50 citizens attacked a British sentinel. A British officer called in additional soldiers, and they too were attacked, so the soldiers fired into the mob, killing 5. The Boston Tea Party began with the Tea Act that past in Boston. The law prevented the colonists from buying tea from other tea shops and that tea was more expensive than the others.
Intolerable Acts The Intolerable Acts can be viewed as one of the first sparks to the flaming fire of America claiming Independence. The Intolerable Acts, also called the Coercive Acts, were a series of laws passed in 1774 in order to punish the colonies for defying their rule. Four out of five of the Intolerable Acts were directed towards Massachusetts directly and the other was directed at Quebec. All of the Acts were supposed to stop the colonies from defying England’s Rule and show the colonies that England was still in charge.
The boston tea party occurred when colonist as a way of rebelion attack british by throwing the tea that they found in their ships. And some people wonder why they did that and historic events show that there were French Indian War before that make the colonists to have an economic crisis so they can pay for the products. And the unique product that haven’t tax was the tea.
