As an organization they created a comprehensive list of information for the purpose of attracting parents and Club staff to join in on the effort. Moreover, it takes an entire organization to make change and not small sectors. The national Boys and Girls Club branch has called for the various club’s encouragement and participation and is now stepping towards organizational strategies. As a non-profit organization the Boys and Girls Club has established guidelines under the Partnership for a Healthier America/Let’s Move program. First Body: What: Allusion Pg. 2, Logos Pg. 37. How & Effect: Ehrenreich uses these personal, rhetorical strategies based on her experiences as a low-wage worker in the poor working class. The effect is that Ehrenreich is able to show the readers the conditions in which the impoverished work in and the daily obstacles that they face in life; also there is an appeal to logic and a reference of a poverty idiom. Why: Ehrenreich is deliberately using these rhetorical strategies to incite the readers about the fact that changes need to be done to poverty because it is a detrimental thing to society.
I have been in school for thirteen years, a staggering 76% of my life; and after all this time nothing has changed. Every single day I get served the same unhealthy, inedible lunch. It is something I can no longer do, I will no longer sacrifice myself to clench my hunger and thirst with this nauseating, unsavory, unappetizing food. Yes breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but many of us do not get to eat breakfast because we are rushing to get to school. So why not fight for a better school lunch that all kids can enjoy and energize from?
While I was walking through Fountain Square Mall, I passed by a lawyer’s office with this flyer from Prism Youth Community in the window. Before I even realized which organization created it, I was immediately drawn to the beautifully designed document. A second later, I was super excited to discover that it was created for the LGBTQA social group founded by one of my instructors, Laura Ingram. The designers have clearly identified and worked to produce a meaningful hierarchy of information for its audience. To a greater degree than many of the professional documents I’ve seen in community settings, this flyer apparently has specific, well-defined rhetorical purposes, likely due to the greater implications it could have for youth in the community

Pacing in Kaffir Boy The excerpt from Kaffir Boy is a prime example of different pacing techniques. The author, Mark Mathabane, uses long sentences with lots of detail for the slow paced parts. One example of this is “They slept in abandoned cars, smoked glue and benzene, ate pilchards and brown bread, sneaked into the white world to caddy and, if unsuccessful, came back to the township to steal beer and soda bottles from shebeens, or goods from the Indian traders on First Avenue.”

Let Girls Learn In her efforts to raise awareness for women’s rights at the Let Girls Learn event in early 2016, Michelle Obama, an American lawyer and the first African American First Lady of the Unites States, strategically writes her speech to display the conditions girls around the world endure to live a life without the simple right to an education. She develops her speech through the use of gratitude as a connection to the public, an appeal to pathos and the final shift in tense to establish hope among the people. Together, these strategies allow Michelle Obama to inform the society that they must unite as one in order to effectively and successfully support the education of girls around the world.
