British Soldiers And The Boston Massacre

One week ago, the colonist attacked the British. This was a tragic event where the Colonist threw snowballs, clubs,oysters,and chunk of ice. In addition they told us the British,to fire if we dared, so we did but, on accident. Once one of us fired, other British started to. The colonist protested that they were unarmed but they really had many items that could kill.

The Colonists were to blame for The Boston Massacre because they abused and confused British Soldiers. The Colonists were to blame for the Boston Massacre because they abused the soldiers. They abused the soldiers by throwing snowballs, and clubs at them.

So when Preston’s trial started in October of 1770, Adams argued that Preston had not given the order to fire and that his soldiers were provoked by the crowd. Eventually, the jury acquitted Preston on the basis of “reasonable doubt”- this was the first time a judge had ever used this term. John Adams played an important part in these trials and ultimately made the decisions that were the best for his people. It was important the Adams decided to send the British back to their country to help disconnect the two relationships. The Boston Massacre was significant on a few levels.

John Adams agreed to work with them because everyone has a fair chance to represent themselves, so John and his partner Josiah Quincy defended the soldiers. These soldiers were tried at Superior Court of Judicature, after three stressful weeks Captain Preston and six of his soldiers were acquitted but two of them were founded for manslaughter. The two guilty were Matthew Kilroy and Hugh Montgomery, these two soldiers were discharged from the military and had the letter ‘M’ branded on their thumbs for manslaughter. I believe that this horrible event occurred because of the King, the colonists were sick and tired of being bossed around. You can’t own guns, you can’t do this you can’t do that, the king kept restricting the colonies.

Was the Boston Massacre Really a Massacre? One of the most common things talked about in the history of the U.S.A. is the Boston Massacre, but was this historical event commonly looked at as a massacre really a massacre. I believe that the Boston Massacre was not a massacre at all instead it was just the act of self defense of a few british soldiers that were being attacked by upset colonists. One of the most said things about the Boston Massacre is that the british soldiers fired into a crowd of innocent people, but there is many pieces of proof that says otherwise.

The Boston Massacres was a terrible event that has faults on both the colonists and the British soldier's shoulders. However, no part of this event would have happened if the colonists had not formed a riot right in front of the British soldiers. The colonists have the right to complain about their feeling on how they are treated by the king. They do not have the right harass and or threaten these British soldiers because these soldiers had done the colonists no fault. By complaining, cursing and or threatening these British soldiers is not going to change the way in which the colonies are treated.

I believe the jury did the right decision in the case of the boston Massacre, I think Captain Preston was innocent and did not order his men to fire, but individuals soldiers may be guilty of murder. The incident started when the crowd was provoking the soldiers, they threw snowballs and clubs at the soldiers. One of the soldiers named Montgomery was hit on the head with ice and fell to the ground after he got up and fired into the crowd.

Despite of the causes of why the road to Revolution took place there were effects afterwards. When American Revolution was over with the The Declaration of Independence came into place, treaties were signed, and the Bill of Rights. Now these effects/events were amazing, it helped our country tremendously.

In America, we learn that British soldiers fired upon innocent civilians, although this may not have been the case. British historians have referred to the Boston Massacre as the "Incident on King Street". After looking over the "Captain Thomas Preston 's Account of the Boston Massacre", as well as "Boston Massacre Trial Depositions" I believe that American historians should refer to the "Boston Massacre" as the "Incident on King Street". The definition of a massacre refers to an unnecessary and random killing of a large number of individuals.

Tensions were high in Boston between the British and the Colonists. Between the Boston Massacre in 1770 and the Boston Tea Party in 1773, Britain was very upset with Boston. King George III, the Lord North- led British government and many of the British citizens were very upset and irritated when they found out that the Boston colonists had made “Tea with salt water”. Once the parliament heard of their escapade, they began thinking of a way to insure that there would be no more uprisings in the Massachusetts colony.
