Case Study: Regional Sport Victoria

Regional Sport Victoria (RSV) is an organisation which supports nine independent organisations throughout regional Victoria. These nine organisations are known as Regional Sports assemblies and it prioritises supporting the role and recreation sector within their regional catchment. Regional Sporting Victoria (2014) states that “the RSV cluster is the only agency in Victoria which supports locally based community sport and recreation on a state-wide basis. This support involves the provision of training, information, advice, skill development, linkages and advocacy with and for clubs, organisations and communities.”

Strategies:
• Support improved governance, capacity, financial viability and efficient administration of sport organisations including their ability to deliver participation opportunities and events (Regional Sport Victoria, 2014, p. 5).
The Victorian State government also provides funding for the Access for All Abilities (AAA) Program. The program supports and develops inclusive sport and recreation opportunities for people with a disability throughout Victoria.
“The Access for All Abilities program plays a crucial role in supporting state government policy that promotes individual choice, the use of inclusive community settings and bridging the regional-metro gap in terms of physical activity and health outcomes for people with disabilities (Regional Sport Victoria, 2014, p. 4).

Cricket Australia is another program for students to volunteer their time to. With this program students will be aligned to either Melbourne Stars or Melbourne Renegades. This is where students will volunteer for the club and help run match days as well as getting the experience behind them. Students have the opportunity to volunteer in a range of participation programs and events including:
• MILO In2Cricket Skills– Delivery of Cricket Clinics in schools and In2Cricket Centres.
• MILO T20 Blast School Cups – School Visits in conjunction with Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria staff.
• Officiating at MILO T20 Blast School Cups.
• Match day assistance at Big Bash league games and international
