Germany, and the United States were the obvious key national players as their influence greatly impacted the war. Germany’s aims in the war were clear, Germany wanted to become a European power through conquest of lands. Germany was successful early on and their goal seemed reachable but irreversible mistakes made their inevitable. Two major failures greatly impacted Germany’s chance of winning; the sinking of the lusitania, and the Zimmerman Telegram. These two failures drew america into the war making Germany’s defeat inevitable. On the side of the allies, the U.S. was most influential even though they joined towards the end of the war. The aim of the war for the U.S. was to make the world safe through the ideology of a democratic society. America only had one major failure, which was going into the war unprepared which resulted in large losses early in the war. Though the major success completely makes up for that, thanks to U.S. involvement in the war; the war ended up going to the side of the allies, so their goals was reached: democracy prevailed. Thanks to the help of the U.S. the war was finally over in 1918. Though the physical damages of the war were devastating, the psychological effect on the world was even greater. The world lay witness to the utter destruction of the world in just a few years; the world’s innocence was lost forever. Whole villages, …show more content…
in many ways but the most significant was how it affected the U.S. politically, socially, and economically. The war affected the U.S. politically in many ways, for example the espionage act, selective service act, and the sedition act were all very influential due to World War One. President Woodrow Wilson sat at the peace table and led the horrible treaty go by because he got his fourteen points and the league of nations. Wilson valued his own ideals over the best deal for his own country, which he received backlash for. Though that’s a look on the negative political aspects , on a positive note the hard work of women in the war greatly influenced the passing of the nineteenth amendment. While politically waye both negative and positive, economically the war impacted mostly positive for the United States. The war boosted the United States economy and cemented the United States as the global industrial power and creditor. The war effort also increased industrialization rates, and product production increased as wells. The war also affected the U.S. socially through many different ways. Due to women and african americans involvement in the war increased their equality because they showed their worth. Women were even allowed to work in the factories when the men were gone setting the precedent for equality early one. The African Americans also had extreme progress due to increased equality in Europe Ultimately contributing to the Civil Rights

The Guns of August Barbara Tuchman The Pulitzer Prize winning book, The Guns of August, written by Barbara W. Tuchman in 1963 is one of the most recognized books on the Great War. World War One was to be the war to end all wars but at its demise resulted in more problems than before the war began. The world had metamorphosed from an agricultural farmland, to a booming industrial factory, the likes the world has never imagined. The Congress of Vienna subdued most conflict, as the years between 1815-1914 stayed relatively away from major conflicts. But the small conflicts that did occur helped build up tensions.
stayed neutral during World War II. Due to the Fact that most of America’s contribution to the war was all during their isolationism and neutrality, they helped by passing the Neutrality Act of 1939 which impacted the war greatly because it gave the Allies in Europe a huge benefits because Great Britain controlled most of the sea going from U.S. to Great Britain which made transportation very convenient, then later America also passed the Lend-Lease Act which lend military equipment such as planes, jeep, weapons and many more to countries like Great Britain, Soviet Union, China and many more. Lastly, the Atlantic Charter also stimulate the morale of the citizens and soldiers in Great Britain which gave them an even greater will to win the war. Even without America physically being involved in the war, America provided support that can certainly help Great Britain defeat the Nazis in
World War One was a war unlike any other before or after; as time went on, countries from all around the world were dragged into European affairs, which led to powers exhausting resources to the fullest extent. Total War required all members of society to contribute and take on jobs of much significance that had lasting effects on culture. Throughout World War One both soldiers and civilians endured similar sufferings; however, the roles of each were significantly different from one another and they were affected by the war in various ways.
World War I is often considered the second worst war in history. In the view of past warfare we typically focus on the death total that flashes over twenty million. However consequently in doing so we often forget the sheer horror of the warfare and the life of the soldiers on the front line. The soldiers faced many hardships both mentally and physically that shouldn’t be neglected. The journals of Quiren Grossel, Reese Russell, and George Sheppard highlight the extreme difficulty of the hardships they faced while on the front of the vast battlefield.

Italy, Japan, and Germany all took actions that made them the aggressors for the war. The war did not start because of one event. It was caused by events that happened over a long period of time by many imperfect people. From the American perspective,
Now that Russia dropped out, all the German troops moved toward the Western front. This was a big blow to the Allies. If it weren 't for the U.S, the Allies would 've probably lost the war. We gained a lot of technical knowledge and income from our participation.
Throughout the ages, wars have wreaked havoc and caused great destruction that lead to the loss of millions of lives. However, wars also have an immensely destructive effect on the individual soldier. In the novel All Quiet on the Western Front written by Erich Maria Remarque, one is able to see exactly to what extent soldiers suffered during World War 1 as well as the effect that war had on them. In this essay I will explain the effect that war has on young soldiers by referring to the loss of innocence of young soldiers, the disillusionment of the soldiers and the debasement of soldiers to animalistic men. Many soldiers entered World War 1 as innocent young boys, but as they experienced the full effect of the war they consequently lost their innocence.
This unknown fact of American being neutral or not, ultimately lead to the United States needing to enter World War I. Although the United States President at the time, Woodrow Wilson, explained the reasoning for the U.S. entering WWI was because of Germany’s submarine warfare, the violence toll that Germany took on America relates back to the concealed matter of the nation of the United States actually being neutral throughout the time before war
The African Americans had a big impact on the Civil War. They had to have all of these laws and papers wrote because of the slavery deal. They had the role of the debate for slavery. They were the slaves and they wanted to have their freedom. The Declaration of Independence said that, “All men are created equal”, but the slaves were not free.
Human kind have experienced many processes of changes throughout the history, and World War I was a new process that Winston Churchill talks about in his excellent article “Mass Effects in Modern World” written in 1925. He mentions that the new mode of life is different from previous because “collectivization” becomes more significant than individual independent, and he talks about the destructiveness of the WWI and its difference with previous wars. He also predicts some features of the future wars that would be seen in WWII. In modern world, the roles of individuals have been reduced by the impact of the mass production and corporation companies. This happens because of people’s attempt to work together in order to enhance the difficult
The United States continued a policy of isolationism up until World War 2. In conclusion, World War 1 changed American society, and foreign policy. American society changed as so women gained the right to vote, women gained more jobs. One thing that happened during the war was the Great Migration, which was when over 6 million AfricanAmericans moved north.
Germany was one of the causes of World War 1. Germany fought Germany for the land of Morocco, Germany gave Austria their ¨full support¨, and Germany encouraged Austria to declare war on Serbia. Germany thought that they were the best so they started to try to take land. For example, Germany went up against France for the land of Morocco, but in the end Germany backed down because both Britain and Russia were going to help France. That is when Germany and Britain almost went to war.
World war one was a devastating war which lasted 4 years between the major nations of Europe. In 1918 it was looking grim for Germany because of many reasons. There are two statements that either Germany lost the war or that the allies won it. I will now state the main reasons that support the allies winning the war; Britons superior navy (more dreadnought battleships). The allies naval blockade, America had fresh troops.
