War is caused by poor, political decisions, appeasement, fight for land and power, and the conflict between countries. At the end of WWI, The Treaty of Versailles was signed to end all wars. The countries involved in WWII were the allies and axis. The allies were the US, China, Britain, and France. The axis were Germany, Japan, and Italy. WWII was important because it caused 60 million casualties. Starting in 1939, several countries around the world plunged into the second world war due to the appeasement of Germany, the political powers decisions, and Hitler’s
One of the causes of WWII was the appeasement of Germany. In document 8, it states, “ Also the ‘appeasers’ feared that the defeat of Germany would be followed by a Russian

In document 6 it states, “ I asked Britain together with France and other powers, guarantee the security of Czechoslovakia. If that course had been followed, events would not have fallen into this disastrous state… responsibility must rest with these who have control of our political affairs.” If the political powers would have made the decision to protect Czechoslovakia then things would not have gotten out of hand and led to war. In document 9 it states, “ had done nothing that any major power considered dangerous enough to warrant precipitating [starting] a major European war. ” The political powers ignoring Hitler because anything that he did, did not seem dangerous enough. They could have prevented the war if they had stopped Hitler from the beginning but they did not. In document 2 it states, “ After Italy attacked Ethiopia… emperor of Ethiopia, asked the League of Nations for help in stopping the invasion. He asked for military sanctions but the League of Nations’ response was ineffective.” If the League of Nations would have decided to help Ethiopia to stop Italy from invading, Italy would not have gotten any power. If the invasion was prevented, it would have prevented war because of the fact that Italy wouldn’t have gained any power but they did. The political powers decisions were wrong and they believed they prevented war, but instead were pushing the start
After millions of deaths occurred during World War I, a peace treaty known as the Treaty of Versailles was created to maintain peace as well as prevent war; however, coincedently, the same treaty that was made to sustain peace helped prompt the start of yet another bloody war known as World War II. During the end of World War I, Germany was forced to sign the Treaty of Versailles as punishment for Germany and her allies being the aggressors of the war. Reparations, the War Guilt Clause, territorial loss, and restricted military were all factors as to how the Treaty of Versailles helped trigger World War II. War reparations were payments that Germany were required to pay as punishment to World War 1. Document C displays how Germany was set
Neville Chamberlain had thought that with this agreement to give the Sudetenland to Germany, Hitler would end because the other countries feared him and wanted to avoid what happened in 1914-1918 (The Munich Conference). This fear, however, drove Hitler even more to continue. This appeasement was a great mistake by the world leaders at the Munich Conference because they showed Hitler that they were afraid of him, allowing him to do more things that went against the Treaty of Versailles without any counteraction. Showing Adolf Hitler the fear of the other European countries and allowing him to take control of the Sudetenland was one of the greatest mistakes that the great leaders could make at the Munich
Sidney Bradshaw Fay provides his stance on the controversial topic through his book Origins of the World War, that each European power had leaders which either initiated military mobilization or they have failed to prevent such an outcome
The beginning of the 1920s started out peacefully, but by the end of the decade and throughout the 1930s, signs of war were starting to show. Although World War I had ended in victory for the Allies and post - war objectives by the victorious nations had been met and successfully maintained, these underlying causes created the longest and bloodiest war the world had seen. Countries such as Germany, Italy, and Japan started taking aggressive actions. The British Prime Minister Chamberlain suggested that the best way to deal with Hitler was by making a policy of appeasement. European nations waited for the worst before forcing Hitler to halt his invasive actions.
Hitler was the main aggressor during 1939 who everyone appeased to, who is infamously known for his rise to power, his persecution of Jews, and his attacks on the world to dominate, that killed so many. Neville Chamberlain, the British Prime Minister, believed in the policy of appeasement and appeased Hitler at the Munich Conference which eventually lead to the start of World War II. The Western Powers responded to aggression with appeasement, and in 1939 the world was plunged into World War II, proving to the world that collective security is a better response to aggression. Hitler’s aggression was the main reason why Allied powers felt the need to appease. In 1930, after the Reichstag fire, Adolf Hitler rose to power because he was appointed
In the Second Italio-Ethiopian War, Italy sent countless bombardments to the Ethiopia, and used poison and mustard gas to kill innocent civilians. During World War 1, the countries agreed to never again use poison gas because of its inhumanity. Italy continued to use it without anyone or anything stopping it, until Haile Selassie appealed to the League of Nations. Without collective security, there was nothing stopping countries from violating international treaties and
After this war ended on November 11, 1918, leaders from the countries made a treaty called the Treaty of Versailles. After this treaty was made, many things happened and the question in many people 's minds was how did this treaty cause WWII? The Treaty of Versailles helped cause WWII by treating Germany harshly in these three ways: Their army was reduced, they lost territory, and the number one reason is all of the blame Germany got. One way that the Treaty of Versailles treated Germany harshly was the way that it reduced their army. After the date of March 31, 1920, Germany wasn’t allowed to have over one hundred thousand soldiers in its army, (Doc B) Germany would more than likely be furious because what if they were attacked?
Causes of World War I World War I was the bar fight of all bar fights and was expected to end quickly. Unfortunately, the treacherous battle field held soldier's longer than expected. At first, Europe had been flourishing with colonies worldwide and had developed in technology greatly.
World War II The versailles treaty helped cause World War II because Germany lost several territories, their military and army were limited, they also had to pay reparations and they had to admit that they were guilty. World War II began in 1914 due to an assassination in the balkans that helped lead to the actual fighting. Leaders from around the world met at versailles in France to come up with a treaty. Prime Minister David Lloyd George of England, Prime Minister Georges Clemenceau of France, and Woodrow Wilson President of the United States all played a major part in the versailles treaty.
“Nevertheless, a European war broke out. Why? Because in each country [of Europe] political and military leaders did certain things which lead to the mobilization [of their armies for war] and [finally] to the declarations of war, or [these leaders] failed to do certain things which might have prevented [the war]. In this sense, all the European countries in greater or lesser degree were responsible [for the outbreak of World War”’ (Document F)
World War II is said to be the worst conflict in human history. About fifty to eighty million people died all together. There were concentration camps run by the Germans and there were essentially two wars raging. The two wars were the war in Europe and the war in the Pacific, which was Japan against the United States. World War II went on for six years and would destroy more land and property around the world and kill more people than any other war before.
WWII was started when Germany invaded Poland. There was still a lot of issues not resolved. The decision made by Adolf Hitler to break his promise not to invade any countries erupt into fighting. There were many leaders of WWII who were involved in different ways that either made it worse or better. The Axis power: Adolf Hitler, General Hideki Tojo, and Benito Mussolini.
The First World War (WWI) was fought from 1914 to 1918 and the Second World War (or WWII) was fought from 1939 to 1945. They were the largest military confrontations in human history. Both wars involved military alliances between different groups of countries. While the WWI involved the alliance system, the WWII involved the Axis Powers and the Central Powers. Periods and duration
Which was 1 an agreement between France, Italy, Nazi Germany, and Britain. [Since] Germany invaded the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia, the British and French prime ministers tried to get Hitler to agree not to use his military in the future in return for the land he had taken. This act was unsuccessful as Hitler invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia, then this led Britain and France to declare World War II. Another cause of World War II was Fascism. Since the World War I left the economy a mess, countries were being taken over by dictators, as these dictators looked for new lands to conquer.
Appeasement is the policy of making compromise to the dictatorial power in order to avoid conflict .Appeasement was a policy adopted by Britain during the 1930s. This policy developed from the growing belief that some countries, especially Germany, had been unfairly treated in the peace settlement of 1918-1919. When Hitler started ruling Germany , he tried to stop the treaty of versailles as it consisted of aggressive and harsh terms that the Allied powers had put in for Germany , in order to avoid conflict , this policy was used .It reflected a sense, present in France as well as Britain, that the Versailles Treaty (1919) had either been too harsh initially or had become unenforceable. The main reason for this was to avoid war between Germany and Italy .The government was concerned with the weakness of its armed forces , notably the lack of defense and especially against the attacker .Any
