In the documentary “Unrest”, there were various of authors as they all contributed by saying the history of what really happened in the process of making a Chicana/o studies department at San Fernando Valley State College. Also, showed what was happening at the school in the late 1960’s. The documentary showed the founding of The San Fernando Valley State College knows as CSUN today, Chicana/o Studies Department. The San Fernando Valley State College students and faculty made huge sacrifices to fight for the school's administration to teach Chicano studies and for the school to be inclusion. Wanting to bring Latinos and Chicanos to the school by including a Chicana/o studies department in the campus so they can feel like they can fit in.
The result of Brown vs Board of education in 1954 put people’s inflexibility in the spotlight. Many children were pulled out of schools because integration was happening and they were too wooden headed to accept the law. They didn’t that see different difference within the schools. The Los Angeles Walkouts was a protest act for Latinos to raise the issue of prejudice among teachers and administration for Mexican American students. (Simpson, 2012) On March 6, 1968, students currently enrolled in Abraham Lincoln High School in East L.A. orchestrated a walkout to express their opinion of their poor classroom education. Mexican Americans believed the educators were offering only vocational and trade careers. Chicano believed educators were not allowing them to attempt at four-year unversity.
Equality is defined as the state of being equal. That’s exactly why the students in Adkin High School in 1951 decided to walkout. The Adkin High School students demanded equality until they got it. These students wanted what local white high schools had. Local white high schools had books with no pages ripped out, new sports equipment, a large gym, and more.

In 1929 The League of United Latin American Citizen or LULAC was founded in Corpus Christi, TX. It is the most respected and oldest surviving civil rights organization for Hispanics in the United States. The League of United Latin American Citizen was established to empower its members to develop opportunities they needed due to the rise of the Texas middle class. During the time LULAC was created Hispanics were being denied human and civil rights, even thought they had made plenty of contributions to Americas society. Its founders were concerned with discrimination against Mexican Americas, with a main concentration on public education.

FACTS: In 1951, a lawsuit was filed by Oliver Brown-lead plaintiff, and other African-American parents, to the Board of Education of Topeka,Kansas, whom is the defendant.
