Before murdering Rowe, Schmid forced his friend to rape her, but he did not comply to doing it. During the murder, Mary French waited in the car and listening to the radio. Afterwards they buried the body. When the victim went missing, family members back home went to the authorities to try to get them to investigate. They replied that they did not have enough evidence to search for the girl. Then, on August 16, 1965, Schmid murdered his old girlfriend and her sister. He told his friend Richard Bruns about the murders. In the years 1978-1984 he was arrested multiple times for possession, breaking and entering, theft, and auto theft. On June 28th 1984 he committed his first homicide. He entered through a window that had been ajar and violently stabbed a woman named Jenny Vincow (age 79) while she had been sleeping.

Arthur Shawcross, otherwise known as the Genesee River killer, was a serial killer who began his reign of terror in 1972 until his capture in 1989. Shawcross was born in Maine, but moved with his family to upstate New York when he was a young child. There are conflicting accounts of his intelligence, number of actual murders, and childhood abuse. Some say he was “borderline retarded” after scoring extremely low on IQ tests during criminal proceedings, but scored above average while testing for the U.S. Military. To his own admission, Shawcross was a chronic bed wetter until the age of 12, was sexually and physically abused by his mother and aunt, and claimed to have sexual relations with his own sister.

A horrible tragedy of three ruined lives, a brutally murdered 14 year old, and life imprisonments of two teenage killers (Linder, 1). Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb, two extremely intelligent young men with a crazed affection for each other, shocked many people by the gruesomeness and the nature of the murder of Bobby Franks. In Chicago, 1924, the radio was just making an entrance into social life, cultural norms were changing as the economy boomed, and traditional views on life began to change to be more contemporary (History.com Staff). Leopold and Loeb were fearless, living the fast life of robbing and conning, when they decided to commit the perfect, unsolvable, murder. They had no want or even reason to kill, but to experience the thrill of adrenaline flow through them (Linder, 2).
Black Dahlia Murder In 1947 the tragic loss of Elizabeth Short shocked many people all over the world. This wasn’t your typical murder, this murder had to have been planned out and thought about for a while before its happening. The “Black Dahlia Murder” is the biggest unsolved case in Los Angeles and is still an undergoing investigation. I have reason to believe that Dr. Gorge Hodel is the murderer behind the brutality of Elizabeth Short’s body.
“Where are you going, where have you been” is a short story written by Joyce Carol Oates. Oates gained inspiration for one of the main characters from a real serial killer she had read about in the newspaper. Bob Dylan’s song, “It’s all over now, Baby blue” was another source of inspiration for Oates. This story focuses on Connie, a self-absorbed, beautiful 15-year-old who often fought with her mother and loved to daydream. Connie loved to hang out with her friends and meet older boys.

The couple had decided to participate in their senior ditch day, so they went sunbathing at a beach near Gaviota State Park.
