Child Vaccination Essay

Immunizations can save a child’s life; due to the medical advances that have taken place, kids are now protected from many illness/ diseases. At one point in time, Polio was a horrible illness that is now preventable by simply receiving a shot (USDHHS, n.d.). Immunizations protect not only the individual receiving the vaccination, but others as well. Certain individuals are not suitable for specific vaccinations, therefore, if everyone else has the vaccination, the people who cannot are more likely to be safe from the illness (USDHHS, n.d). Generally, immunizations are safe, effective, cheaper in the long run, and can save families time.

Immunization will prevent you and others from contracting a disease as well as dealing with all the expenses that come along with treating that disease. Everyone should make getting vaccinated a priority for their health and for others.

Childhood vaccinations have become one of the most effective ways in preventing transmittable diseases. However, parent concerns surrounding their effectiveness, risks, need and safety has sparked a number of individuals to refuse childhood vaccination for their children As a result, outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases continue to increase. With the surrounding controversy, this topic has become a very thought-provoking argument. Although some parents choose not to vaccinate their children, childhood vaccinations should be made mandatory because they protect children from deadly diseases, protect other children too young to be vaccinated or those who have compromised immune systems, and they are also safe and effective.

Pro Vaccination Since the invention of vaccines, it has created a huge impact worldwide. As a child begins to start school, their required by the state to receive their twelve routine shots. The children who receive all their shots have a greater chance of not contracting any diseases. Throughout the years, vaccination or otherwise known as immunization has been a hugely controversial issue worldwide and whether or not to vaccinate children. However, vaccines are an effective and key role in keeping the human population healthy and safe.

Vaccinations have been promoted since 1781, vaccinations are injected for Americans to maintain a healthy life and not become ill due to disease caused from measles, mumps, polio and several other diseases. However, there are those that do not agree with getting their children vaccinated due to religious beliefs and there are some people believe vaccinations can cause birth defects. Although, those are their beliefs; however there are those that enter our nation without being vaccinated and it is ultimately putting our children at risk for contracting various diseases, for example the Disneyland measles outbreak of 2014.

Vaccines are safe for children, the chemicals that go into vaccines are the same chemicals that children are exposed to everyday. Another reason that your child should vaccinate is because it saves children and saves money of the parents this makes more children to be capable of getting vaccinated. In the science sector, there are many arguments whether science is beneficial for humans or is it a curse upon us, this debate is also applicable to child vaccination. Child vaccination is a sensitive health topic that parents and doctors argue about, were some say that vaccination can be harmful for their children, others say that it might prevent their children from getting sick. What is Child vaccination? Child vaccination is the process of injecting dead bacteria or viruses in our body for our immune system to recognise as a pathogen^1 and fight that particular pathogen. Also the pathogen is being recognised by our body for the future, so our body can defeat this particular pathogen faster in the future and a person won’t get the disease.

After further research I was able to gain a better understanding of the good things that vaccines can give people. In one of my research I found more reason why vaccines are good for children and what type of vaccines children should have in schools. School-age children, from preschoolers to college students, need vaccines. Making sure that children receive all their vaccinations on time is one of the most important things you can do as a parent to ensure your children 's long-term health—as well as the health of friends, classmates, and others in your community.

We all have a commitment to our society, and that is to protect each other and each other’s children by vaccinating our own family members.

For example, some parents are reluctant to vaccinate their children against diseases like Hemophilic Influenza if they won’t be attending daycare. People who oppose mandatory vaccinations for public school children point out parents concerned with their children being around unvaccinated children could move their child to a private institution requiring immunization (Murphy 2). This reasoning would only add extra stress for families trying to find schools for their children and could cost parents more money than just being able to send their child to a free public school without fear. The next most controversial concern parents have regards the ingredients in some vaccinations.

Vaccines are like traffic lights; they ensure the safety of the public, be in heavily crowded areas, like schools, or densely trafficked roads. Traffic lights only work when all people follow the rules. If a car runs a red light, the car runs the risk of killing innocent pedestrians who are complying with the prescribed rules. Vaccines, if not utilized by most people, are ineffective. Even though some parents are concerned over the safety of vaccines, children who go to public schools should not be granted exemptions because vaccines are necessary to prevent outbreaks, children who do not receive vaccines are at risk of disease, and medically compromised children rely on vaccines to prevent disease.

Many people may think that vaccination is a bad thing, that instead of preventing it causes illness, that is not natural. Natural or not, there are many reasons as to why we should vaccinate us and the younger generation. Most of the time children don’t like vaccination because it hurt, but is the responsibility of a parent to seek the wellbeing of his or her child. Vaccination it’s a preventive measure of various diseases. Unfortunately, things like the anti-vaccination movement, the misinformation on the Internet, and the believe that vaccination causes more damage than is worth, have led our society to think that it’s right not to vaccinate.

While many people think that it’s not harmful to their children if they’re not vaccinated, they’re mistaken. There are many risks of not being vaccinated, which include disabilities and even a higher risk of catching a disease that could’ve been prevented in the first place. Not being vaccinated can sometimes lead to disability problems such as if there was an “Outbreaks of measles, mumps, and whooping cough are occurring around the United States—often among groups of children whose parents have refused to get them vaccinated”(Childhood 1). The side effects of these lead a child to catching pneumonia, inflammation in the brain, swollen and tender salivary glands under the ears and more. Vaccinations When it comes to vaccinations, there are many different opinions on immunizing a child, especially when that child’s parent has a strong like or dislike towards vaccinating. Immunizations have existed for at least a thousand years and as technology advances more, there are new vaccines being designed to help protect our children from contracting contagious and sometimes deadly diseases, such as Bordetella pertussis, polio, and even influenza.
