Throughout the time of the California Gold Rush, the population of the western states bloomed which encouraged ethnic diversity and cultural spread. One of the different cultural groups were the European immigrants who experience many different experiences compared to the other groups. White settlers and the other people the brought with them were another group that traveled to the West during this time period. Finally, the Chinese immigrants experienced different treatment compared to the other immigration groups. The many groups that migrated to California all experienced different lifestyles and affected other groups of people. The European immigrants were a native group of migrants to California that contributed many different ideas and topics to the people of California. Europeans brought ethnic diversity to California. The migrants found more freedom in America than they experienced in Europe. They faced less prejudice compared to other migrant groups. Many mining communities were more democratic which gave them a sense of freedom that they didn’t encounter in Europe. Chinese men traveled to America in hopes of finding a place to create a profit to return back their economic crisis in China. They experienced discrimination from mining areas and other jobs. The migrants of California did not have as much trouble as migrant workers now. One difference that is a lot harder to face now than before is the lack of legal citizenship and status in the U.S. The Californian migrants did not have that trouble and could start a life anywhere they decided to. Another thing to make it harder not, is that the farmers are not as recognized as they appeared to be before 2016.
