Looking back I can always remember people suggesting that I should become a lawyer. The only problem was that, law was not my passion. I pursed it to please everyone and I thought eventually I would learn to love practicing law. However, once I graduated high school, and began undergrad for political science, the field I thought would prepare be for law school.
Something inside of me throughout my matriculation kept telling me to change my major. Yet, I never did because I was still pushing myself to become what everyone suggested I could be great at.
It was not until I began internship at the Tennessee State’s Capital, I decided to take my future in my hands and follow my own heart. When applying for the intern position I had to pick three areas I was interested in working with. My first choose was law, my next was finances, and my last was education. I have always had an interest in education, but shied away from the field for several different reasons. As faith would have it that I was selected as the head intern to the House of Representatives’ Education Committee and working in the Education Committee Chairman’s Office. The Chairman had a long career as a Tennessee educator before he became involved in politics. His

Belmont University stood out to me because I am a huge supporter of Christian Base Colleges and Universities. Our beneficiary core values explain who I am as a person and what I valued in people. Another reason I connected to Belmont University is because everyone I met seemed to have graduated from or attends Belmont University and they only spoke of great things about the school. Knowing I will be mentored by experience teachers and professors, receive my teaching license and Masters in one year. While being able to continue working for Metro Nashville Public Schools system was the biggest selling factor in my choice to attend

I choose Brown Mackie College after much deliberation and comparison with other schools. I first had to research what career path I wanted to pursue. I was kind of stuck in life not knowing what I wanted or what I wanted to do. I finally came to the conclusion that I want to be a Veterinary Technician. The next step was to find schools in this area that offered that program.
Until I decided to go to Lenape, I had not had any plans for what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. When I learned I could graduate as a Certified Nurse Assistant, I was interested immediately. However, I knew I wanted to accomplish more than that. I love learning and I have a lot of empathy so I knew healthcare would be a perfect match for me.
Before choosing criminal justice as my major, I wanted to be an art major. The dream was to work as a comic book artist, but I soon realized that it was virtually impossible for me to achieve that dream. Eventually, I became interested in the criminal justice system and all of the aspects that exist in the system, specifically the court aspect. When I told my family that I wanted to be a criminal justice major, my father told me outright that I could not be a police officer or work in corrections, so law school was the only option, but I morphed that expectation into my own with the desire to become a civil rights attorney. Moreover, I have always been interested in politics and political movements that involved civil rights and human rights.
My first thought of what I would do, as a career would be something far away from a high school. This was all true till my junior year of high school. I found my passion to teach. I found my passion three hours away from my high school on a fall weekend. I had an amazing opportunity to service as a camp counselor at an FFA camp.
My career goal is to one day become a lawyer. My road on this career path began when I attended Queensborough Community College majoring in Criminal Justice. At the time my aspirations was having a career in law enforcement. After receiving my associate degree, I continued my education at SUNY Old Westbury majoring in Criminology. It is here, where I learned more about criminality from a systematic perspective; but also from a sociological view.
Batman had Robin, Sherlock had Watson, peanut butter has jelly and attorneys have paralegals. You can have one without the other, but if you do, you won 't be getting the best. One of the reasons I aspire to be a paralegal is for the fact that they are the "behind-the-scenes" players that are vital to a law office. Paralegals are the backbone of a lot of attorneys. Paralegals think on their feet and know just about everything.
I would like to end up as a judge of some time career-wise. More immediately, I see myself working a government job while in law school. A government job would hopefully get me good connections for a future career as either a prosecutor or defender. The law career is interesting to me because it is a little bit of every subject. There is a performance aspect to it, especially when considering the public speaking component.
Throughout my life, I have never truly been positive about what area of study I would like to pursue in college or which career path I would like to follow after graduating with a degree. I always figured that I would figure out what I want to do with my life given enough time. I also believed that somewhere along the way I would develop an interest that I was passionate about that could guide my decision about the future. I found the interest that I am passionate about by chance. At the end of my eighth-grade year I was in the process of selecting the first classes of my high school career, and I decided to sign up for a first-year marketing class.
Law is a fundamental part of society. Without it, chaos would wreak havoc over everything. However, this law is often broken. Whether it be by people who don’t respect it or people who actively make efforts to break it. This is where prosecuting attorneys come in.
Choosing a college major is one of the most important decisions in a person’s life. The effect choosing a college major has on one’s life is much like a small ripple in the middle of a vast ocean. First of all, I would like to thank you for providing me with the opportunity to compete in this scholarship competition, no matter what the outcome, the competition provides me with an opportunity that I otherwise wouldn’t have had to prepare me for real life high-pressure scenarios. When posed with prompt of ‘Outside of Academia and family, what has helped shaped you into the person you are today’, the first thing that came to mind is my determination. I have this determination and this passion to be a lawyer bursting inside of me, and I simply can’t ignore the fact that I am destined to be a lawyer. Throughout my essay I hope to relay to about a struggle I faced, an opportunity to blossom, and about a dream that I have long been hoping to
It is important to study something in school that you enjoy but that is also useful in the real world. I have always been asked, “what's your major?”. I would answer art history and always got a response like, “what are you going to do with that?”. Most parents and students don’t feel that there is a good foundation from learning Art History. It is often heard from high school and college students (influenced by their parents) that to succeed you must major in science, technology, engineering, or business.
Choosing a major in college. Researches prove that more than ninety percent of undergraduates change majors between the time they enter college and the time they graduate more than once. The reasons for the change include poor information about the subjects and pressured choices by parents. Other causes include great competition from other students.
