Disappointment can come with your biggest success or legacy. As for me it had to come at the wrong time. I am a true dedicated wrestler and have great vibes when it comes to the mat. I have had my biggest upsets and my achievements, and to be in that situation is unbearable. My junior year I was ranked no.2 all year, and for that it gave me pride to do my best and outwork everybody. One little thing can set you back a long ways. As for me I broke my hand doing what I love. The time I had to sit out and watch my teammates was way too long and to watch made me upset and down to not be able to do what I love. As time went on things slowly became stronger and better, and before long it was time to get back onto the mat. Conditioning was a plus to me …show more content…
And I took that into effect throughout the whole state tournament and ended up making the state finals. Only 18 guys make the finals and there will only be 9 crowned state champions. I just didn 't want to make it to the finals I wanted to test my boundaries and win. The opposing opponent that I had in the finals, beat me a week prior 5-4, and him seeking to get another W again. But this time I did not let that happen, it was 3-3 going into overtime and the first wrestler to get a takedown wins. Only 8 seconds into overtime I took the most important shot that sent him soaring and crashing back to the ground. Winning is the best feeling in the world and no one can take that from you. The school has a state champions wall and only the ones who won state got to be up there. And I was one of them, still today I look at the picture and think to myself on how did I manage to accomplish something so serious while having a broken hand and being out a third of the season? The answer is mindset and determination, something you want so bad you can go for and achieve. Do not let a broken hand or anything like that get to you, you can still perform the best even if something has gone
Showing grit is a common thing for all people in sports, but one that has really stuck to me was middle school football to now. When seventh grade football started, Coach was looking at kids for certain positions and he said my name first. I instantly perked up ready to get any position on the team, but when he said I was playing second team center I was crushed. I never played on the line before. I was tall and skinny, not big and bulky.
My main goal is to not let myself down, to not look back and think what more I could of done to make myself better, whether that 's waking up earlier, staying later at practice, taking a couple extra reps just to put myself right over the edge of average. Anyone can be average and live with it, but nobody remembers average, I want people to
I was too used to relying on my speed, and I started doubting myself more and more. My passes started going completely off target, my shots either went over or wide, and I couldn 't hold
Semi-state decides if your seasons ends or you make it to state. State is a huge thing in wrestling. It not like all sports because it 's you by yourself. You worked all season to get to that ticket round match and win. The week leading up to semi-state is very quiet.
but this time it was 2-1, with short time left in the third period I got a takedown and was able to get the win 3-2. After a hard season it was time for sectionals. I was going in at 36-3. After two hard days I finished fourth which was very disappointing but I had to get ready for districts which was the following weekend.
In 2013 I joined the varsity wrestling team. I had never wrestled, and I was not not physically fit, but I wanted to try something new and challenging. I learned the basics of wrestling and competed within two weeks of my first training. I was inexperience and there were many things I did not know, but I worked hard to defeat my opponents and become fit and agile. By the end of the season I wrestled my way into the regional competitions.
We had conditioned really hard, to the point where I felt like crying. I felt exhausted. One more event I told myself, you can do it. We started to tumble and my coach was spotting me on my roundoff back handspring. But, I always kept messing up, never landing on my feet, my coach yelling at me to just do it already and not make a fool out of my self.
I kept going for the guy next to me performing to the best to his ability. Success was the result of all the hard relentless work done throughout June into August. I acknowledged that my team had a good group of seniors who were high character student-athletes I spent most of childhood with. Ultimately finishing with a record of 3 wins and 7 loses taught me many lessons on becoming a better person and
Born and raised in Philadelphia I had that competitive city kid attitude. I was different though which made me more competitive from the rest. If it was as simply as someone walking next to me on the sidewalk towards the street I would still wanna beat them there. I never lost that instinct and I am proud of it. Being the best at anything and everything is my goal.
My grades plummeted from around a 3.0 to barely holding a 2.0. I was so deep in trouble that when I tried to become better it only made it worse. I began thinking it'll all be over when wrestling starts so I can show everyone that i'm worth something and I can make something good of myself. One day I was in science class and my partner got up to get supplies for our lab.
The theme in the short story, “The Marble Champ,” by Gary Soto was that hard work pays off in the end. I know this because, Lupe found a sport that she would love and be good at, so she worked very hard to achieve her goals. She worked/practiced day in and day out. And in the end, all of her hard work payed off. Have you ever felt like you had to give up at one point in time.
No one can avoid failure. No person has ever been 100% successful at everything. But people hate to talk about their failures, and try to avoid it at all cost. Having participated in the interscholastic sport of wrestling, I have been given many opportunities to succeed or fail. I generally succeed most of the time.
What does success mean to me? It means accomplishing things in life and reaching your goals. Everyone has a different view of what success actually is. Success also means setting a goal and reaching it in a time frame you set for yourself. For example I believe finishing college and gaining a career in a field you love is being successful because it is a goal that can be achieved.
Throughout the first part of the semester we have been reading and discussing various tips to help us survive college. The focal point for such discussions has come through Lynn Jacobs and Jeremy Hyman’s book The Secrets of College Success. Though we read only a few chapters from this book, it is littered with helpful tips that help guide college students become successful in the classroom. Throughout this paper I am going to discuss the three best tips for college success that I resolve to use. I will also discuss why they are important to me, and how I plan on sticking to them.
Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to be successful in life. I have always wanted to be the better version of my parents and achieve many things in life. During my freshman year in High school, I knew I was going to major in business. I come from a household of five, my father, mother, two younger sisters, and myself. I am the first in my family to go to college and with that being said, I have always felt the pressure to be the best role model and example for my younger sisters.
