On the east coast, many universities were built using collegiate gothic styles. The reason was, a large amount of these buildings were built during the time period where there was a revival in Gothic styles. These gothic styles would revolutionize various different universities and high schools across the nation; however, not all universities decided to take this designing route. One university in particular, UCLA, used styles from the Lombard Romanesque time period. The differences between these styles include structural concepts like vault support types and the moods that are set off from the building. UCLA was built using a Romanesque style due to the fact that the designers wanted to invoke a certain feeling throughout the experience of a person when they visit the campus. Many east coast schools were built using Collegiate Gothic styles because of the time period they were built in. A number of the schools were in fact built during the Gothic movement that began in the late 1740s and continued to grow rapidly in the early 19th century. Many of the universities that used this design were built during this movement which had a large influence on their architectural decisions. The Gothic revival had connotations of politics, religion, and professionalism. These two designs have many differences, for example, Romanesque styles use separate compartments while Gothic uses unified compartments. The vaults in Romanesque styles are also mostly barrel-vaults while Gothic style vaults are groin-vaults. The mood each style sets off is different too, the Romanesque style have thick walls with round arches that set off a gloomy/warm feeling that fits well with Los Angeles because of the red brick that stands

“Look at that tall building with the 12-foot terra cotta sculpture that stands on top of the corner!” Numerous buildings around Iowa State Campus have extremely distinctive designs. Each design in each building has very deep construals to understand the purpose and history of the building. One of the buildings that stood out was from an artist named Andrew Leicester who designed the G-Nome on the Molecular Biology Building and many other artifacts as a component of the G-Nome Project in 1992.
The Romanesque cathedral architecture contained thick plain supporting walls with few clear small windows. Whereas, the Gothic cathedral architecture contains high arches, large stained windows, jab figures.

Architecture has the ability to remark and reflect any region, give a feeling and a sense of a place, and present thoughts and creativity. Across the world, especially in the United States, there are many cities that are distinguished by its architecture and unique styles: The skyline of New York City is defined by it’s skyscrapers; San Francisco’s mixture of Victorian and modern colored houses; New Orleans’ iconic Creole townhouses; and Miami’s modernist architecture. Los Angeles, San Diego and some of the cities in the same region are no different from the previous appreciable cities all around America. The reason that the word “Gothic” has become associated with these ideas of horror and death is because the architecture was thought of the ideal place for mysterious, suspenseful, and dark stories to occur. Gothic is a style of architecture which gained popularity for its tall structure with pointed arches which points into the sky above. In this essay, I will discuss how both the style and function of the Greek Parthenon and the Roman Pantheon served as typical examples of their cultures in Athens and ancient Rome. In addition to the similarities and differences between these two cultures through the two buildings. Both the Greek and the Roman architecture inspired the cultures and architects until these days due to the diverse meaning they carry and symbolize in astonishing ways through the different orders, columns, roofs, friezes, and domes.
