Tomas Paine, who wanted liberty for all, distributed a pamphlet entitled Common Sense. Paine’s pamphlet stirred up the American colonists. They were already angry with King George. They were irritated at his soldiers because, they were sent to decree over them. They hated the excessive taxes, and they hated that he closed the port of Boston to punish them for their protesting.

Thomas Paine's common sense pamphlet was influential and had a crucial part in the American Revolution. The american revolution was started for a number of reasons, but I think it was mostly because of the Townshend Acts. These acts were what caused the colonists to act against the British, one of the most popular acts that the colonists rebelled against was called the Tea Act. these Townshend Acts were made to fix Britain's debt in the British East India company. These Townshend Acts put a tax on imported goods like glass, paint, oil, paper and tea, making merchants make less of a profit getting the colonists angry.

THOMAS PAINE’S COMMON SENSE Thomas Paine, born on February 9,1737, Thetford, United Kingdom, was an English American writer and pamphleteer whose ‘Common Sense’ and other writings helped shape many ideas influencing the American Revolution and helped pave the way for the Declaration of Independence. He worked as an officer of the excise, hunting smugglers, and collecting liquor and tobacco taxes but he did not excel at this job. In 1772, he published "The Case of the Officers of Excise" which was a 21-page article in defense of higher pay for excise officers; which was his first political work.

The pamphlet “common sense “written by Thomas Paine denounced the British Monarchy and Parliament and gave reasons and examples as to why separation from Great Britain was necessary for the ultimate good of the colonies and those that lived in it. Paine thought that though government was necessary, it did not promote unity and happiness, but because of the way men lived the creation of a governing body protected freedom and security. Paine paints a picture of a small settlement where members of that settlement would choose one person to represent their interest. The number of representatives would grow as the settlement grew.
