Introduction For the purpose of this paper, my client will be named Leah. The agency 's mission is to render the highest quality care to its residents. Leah was referred to Andover and Subacute Rehab Center by her previous residency. Her family was unable to prevent her from begging in the community and abusing heroin. The agencies’ role is to restore its residents to their maximum potential. The goal is to help Leah reach her full potential so she could go back to live in the community with her family. Engagement Before conducting the interview I read some of Leah 's files. During the interview, Leah appeared to be open and engaged like she was waiting for someone to share her story with. When I asked Leah, “Do you have any children?” her face lit up and she had the biggest smile. When I asked her questions about her past she would pause for a before she replied.I had to excuse myself and stop Leah from over talking …show more content…
Leah is a young bisexual mother of 2 living in a nursing home. Her sexuality is not a big problem because she is living in the nursing. If she was out in the community she would be perceived differently. Herek (2002) study found the following: Bisexuals might be targets of greater hostility than gay people for a lot of different reasons. For example, a lot of heterosexuals may equate bisexuality with sexual promiscuity or nonmonogamy. Bisexual men and women might be regarded as vectors of HIV infection and or other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). (p.265) Though Leah does not have aids or any other sexually transmitted diseases, individuals within the society will treat her as if she did have aids. Individuals are quick to make assumptions based on one 's sexuality. Leah likes to use her sexuality to manipulate individuals in the nursing home, which is not acceptable, but she continues to engage in that behavior. For example, she has multiple boyfriends and girlfriends that she uses to get gifts and money from, so she takes advantage of

Arlene Stein’s book “Sex and Sensibility” is a literary masterpiece that develops the framework of content that was essential towards explaining the rise of the lesbian movement; though solid in its message, Stein’s bias is recognized throughout the text, she was cognizant of issues and factors that affected the movement but she fails to piece together the entire spectrum. Stein captures three fundamental factors displayed throughout the text: (1). The recognition of new sexual identities and their associated orientations (2). The separation of the Feminist and Lesbianist movements, and (3). The differentiation of the “Old Gay” and “New Gay”lesbian identities.
In both “The Chocolate War” and “DNA” the bullies are presented as mischievous and threatening characters throughout. In the play “DNA” we have a psychotic gang leader called Phil who dictates to the rest of the gang members with his iron fist. However in “The Chocolate war”, we have Archie Costello who rules through manipulation and the tradition of the vigils and the box of marbles. Both “The Chocolate War” and “DNA” contain other supporting bullies and victims, for example in “DNA” we have Cathy (the later gang leader) and in “The Chocolate War” we have the Brothers. In both of the books there are the characters who are being victimised.

For people living in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community, hiding in a “the closet” is very common in hiding their true identities. Extreme precaution is taken to help prevent exposing themselves to friends and family until the time is right for them. Then, when someone is finally ready to reveal their true selves they must deal with the reactions of everyone they tell. This process is highlighted in the American sitcom The Golden Girls, a show highlighting the lives of four women after retirement and living in their “golden years”. The episode “Scared Straight” (1988) highlight the relationship between Blanche and her younger brother Clayton-
I have witnessed many friends who do identify as lesbian and gay, and they do not fear their life. They have never once been physically harmed due to the fact they are not heterosexual. However, they have been harmed emotionally and mentally. Lloyd does not talk much about the violence that is not physical. She discusses the violence and harm that comes from the sexing of the body.

After watching “Interview with Jane Ward, author of Not Gay: Sex Between Straight White Men” and “Bisexuality: The Myths and Medical Truths” I learned that when a person deviates from the norms of their preferred sexuality, they are met with negative out comes. In the case of female bisexuality, their imagine suffers by the way society looks at them. In “Bisexuality: The Myths and Medical Truths” bisexual women are commonly
Having a different sexuality than the one expected of you, doesn’t change who you are as a person. Yes it might change how people see, or treat you, but it should never cause you to hate you uniqueness. You are who you are and nothing should ever come between you happiness even if others can’t accept it for what it is. In “Drowning in Fire” by Craig Womack, the author talks about homosexuality with the help of his central main characters that happens to be Native American.
The woman had only recently made the decision to stay with that gender completely. As the friend shared pictures of herself with Wilchins, Wilchins noticed how keenly her friend was analyzing her reactions with each different picture. This seemed to shock Wilchins as she herself is quoted saying “Which is to say that I do not, at first blush, inspire confidence as the best possible judge of such matters. I could not care less how either of us is read by nontranssexuals” (Wilchins). I believe this to be a powerful statement as she states although she does not care about how she is read, the effects of social inspection are often great.
First of all, I had the opportunity to interview Kim Bartells who’s a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in Michealsen Health Center and learn more about her role as a social work. Before I started interviewing Kim, I asked her if it was alright with her if I recorded the conversation and she said it was fine with it. I started the interview with asking what type of population Michealsen Health Center serves and she told me it was mostly elderly people. Kim works in a “Microlevel intervention involves working with individuals--- separately, in families, or in small groups---to facilitate change in individual behavior or in relationship” (DuBois and Miley 69). This types of individuals she is working with are elderly residents “who utilize long-term care experience a combination of physical or cognitive limitation that require some level of assistance in activities of daily living” (DuBois and Miley 314-315) and their families as well.
As I progress in my career, I feel that it is important to develop a personal style and technique that clients can relate to. I am also interested in learning more about assessments and evaluations as they drive the rehabilitation plan. While I have assessed hundreds of clients, I realize that there is more to learn. For instance, the trend over the next five years will be an increase in applicants who receive state-plan home and community based services. The Final Rule issued by The Center for Medicare and Medicaid will require that individuals receive services in the most integrated settings.
Someone asked me some questions, so I am posting them to save time and so everyone knows what I am trying to do for the community! 1. My wife and I walk my dog for a ten block distance in the morning or afternoon most days. We pick up litter at the same time. We pick up an average of 3-4 grocery bags of trash daily.
