“Repent Harlequin Said the Tictockman” by Harlan Ellison wrote in 1965 is about a time keeping government trying to achieve complete efficiency. The 1961 science fiction short story “Harrison Bergeron,” by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., is about complete equality, disabling humanity from success. I believe that the actions that Harrison were wrong and he should’ve taken a different approach at what he was trying to do. In the year of 2081, the government was very overruling and tried to create everyone equally by using “handicaps” to make everyone have the same abilities. Handicapped, For better or worse My short story was Witten in 1961 by an Author named Kurt Vonnegut. Some other works of Vonnegut may include All the king’s horses, Epiac, Mnemonics, and the Package. “Government 's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives”. The short story Harrison Bergeron is written by Kurt Vonnegut. It is the year 2081; because of the new Amendments to the constitution everyone is now equal. One day, Harrison Bergeron is taken away from his parents’ home, George and Hazel. They are both unaware of what is happening because George is required to wear a radio in his ear that makes it so he cannot comprehend what is happening around him, the reason he must wear this is because he is smart.
This is one of the few similarities between these two stories. In 2081, Harrison is a 20 year old man who has much deeper thinking about his actions. His age affects the audience hugely, as he gives off the impression that he is a very intellectual thinker who can articulate his plans to the most meticulous detail. Along with this, he is wearing few handicaps and appears very human as the story sticks closely to something that might be possible in real life. His dialogue follows suit in being human due to the that he speaks like an adult, forming fully thought out sentences.

Kurt Vonnegut in “Harrison Bergeron”, demonstrates that equality based on characteristics is not a good thing for society. Harrison Bergeron is a short story based on the year 2081, where everybody is equal.

On the other hand, Vonnegut initiates his story with humor and ends with happiness and sorrow, while satirizing the government. Vonnegut shares his satirical writing in his story Harrison Bergeron. Bradbury expresses his story in, Marionettes Inc. Although both writers demonstrate what life would be like with finding a way to happiness, their ideas are very
