Judaism and Christianity: Compare and Contrast Across the globe and throughout history, there have been hundreds of different types of religions. Two of the religions that were prominent in ancient times and places are Judaism and Christianity. Both Judaism and Christianity had large followings in both the past and the present. People who believed in the ways of Judaism were often addressed as Jews, while people who followed the way of Christianity were called Christians. These two religions, although similar in some aspects, had their fair share of differences, too. The religions of Judaism and Christianity have many similarities between them. For instance, both Jews and Christians believe that God is the one true creator of the universe, and that nothing had existed before him. Both religious followings also believe that one day, there will be a return of a savior, although the views on this topic differ. Overall, Christianity and Judaism have the same views on God, and that is that he is the one and only Creator of the universe. …show more content…

One of these differences is the way in which the followers practice their respective religions. Followers of Christianity often participate in prayer and worship in churches, often on Wednesdays and Sundays. Followers of Judaism participate in prayer three times a day, with the exception of Shabbat and religious holidays, on which they participate in prayer a fourth time. Shabbat is Friday night following all the way to Saturday night. Followers of Judaism and Christianity also practice their religion in different places. Christians participate in churches, chapels, or their homes, while Jews often participate in Judaism in synagogues. The word in which these two religions worship with also differs. Christians read and study from the Holy Bible, while Jews use the Tanakh, or, the Jewish
