Oscar Collazo and Gruelio Torresola were two Puerto Ricans that had attempted to assassinate President Truman. They had arrived in Washington D.C. the day before the Bronx in New York City. The reason that they had decided to try to assassinate Truman was because they thought that it would draw more attention to Puerto Rico and advance the Puerto Rican independence.
