Introduction The American Revolution was a very long and extensive war that lasted from 1775 until 1783, and as a result America gained its independence. It is very imperative to highlight the significant role that women played during the American Revolution. During this era a woman was often portrayed as illiterate, child-bearing mother, and a homemaker.

After reading Chapter 5 in “The American Yawp”, it is clear that there were many social, economic, and political consequences of the American Revolution. This is evident because of the changes in societal beliefs, the end of mercantilism, and the increased participation in politics and governance. To begin with, the American Revolution changed the people’s societal beliefs. Prior to the Revolution, society was deferential and aristocratic.

The American Revolution was a war fought by American colonies to gain independence from the British control. The American Revolution was caused by a series of events. It all started with the French and Indian War in 1754. At the end of the war, King George III issued the proclamation of 1763 which prohibited colonists to settle beyond the Appalachian Mountains, many colonists took great offense at this order.  The war between Britain and France caused Britain to be deeply in debt and demanded tax from the colonies.

The American Revolution is arguably the turning point of American history as it resulted in somewhat of a significant, positive change in politics, economics, and society as a whole. However, from 1775 to 1800, the effects of the revolution on the American society were subtle as most principles glorified by revolutionists contradicted the examples set forth by colonial reality. Even though Native American involvement during the Revolutionary War is often overlooked. they played a significant role. Not only did the war determine which direction in history America would take, but it also progressed the downfall of the Native Americans. They lost land and freedoms while America gained it. Both sides in the war wanted the Native Americans to stay neutral, however most Native Americans sided with the English during the American Revolution.

What Caused the American Revolution The American Revolution was a battle for leadership in the American colonies. At the time, England controlled nearly all aspects, mostly the political and economic, of the colonial lives. Their purpose was to strengthen England. The colonies wanted the freedom from all of the control because they were doing fine without England.

Historians may argue that the inclusion of only white males in this brand-new society makes the American Revolution a failure, but the American Revolution changed the social aspect of the colonies for the better. The change of social status of minorities is not immediate, but the revolution allows for necessary changes to happen in the future. For example, a majority of the north abolished slavery less ten years or even before the end of the revolution.
