I wish to be considered for an assignment as a Lieutenant within the Fusion Liaison & Intelligence Training Unit, Regional Operations & Intelligence Center. Enlisted members of the Fusion Liaison & Intelligence Training Unit have the fundamental responsibility of providing intelligence support, threat assessments, and crime-pattern analysis to law enforcement agencies. A Lieutenant in this unit must have certain experience and qualities suited to the work product of the unit. I believe my previous work experience in the ROIC, Electronic Surveillance Unit and my current role as the Assistant Unit head of the MAPPS/Special Projects Unit as well as the Risk Assessment Core Group (RACG) Leader has prepared me for the position of Lieutenant …show more content…
Firstly, I was assigned to the ROIC in 2006 where I learned the basics of Intelligence Led Policing and the dissemination of sensitive data. At that time, in the early days of the ROIC, I utilized the SIMMs system to disseminate intelligence data to detectives in the field. Secondly, on the Special Projects side of our unit, we have access to all NJSP databases and are constantly tasked with producing reports from those databases. These reports can cover a range of topics from Use of Force analysis, racial profiling, Misconduct, etc. These types of reports can be considered "intelligence" as it relates to the inner workings of the NJSP and mitigating risk. Myself and all members of the M.A.P.P.S/SPU are fully aware of the importance of information security, given our access to this material. Additionally, with regards to dealing with information security, I have also been the system manager of two distinct and complex data systems. The first being the Voice-box wiretap system. My duties as a member of the Electronic Surveillance Unit consisted of, direct handling of Computer Data Warrants, provisioning of court ordered wiretaps for various NJSP and outside agencies, assisting in the installation of hidden surveillance equipment, and administrating the Voice-box wiretap data system which contained thousands of confidential recordings from hundreds of …show more content…
I applied my skills during my tenure in the Electronic Surveillance Unit with wiretapping surveillance and installation of hidden cameras in the course of criminal investigations. In 2008 I was detached to the Applicant Investigation Unit where I was able to make use of my training I received in CIS school as well as an Interview and Interrogation course. During the course of my background investigation I was able to uncover information that was not included in the applicants application package. As a result of my diligent investigations I was informed that I would be recommended to be a supervisor any future applicant
Patel failed to take appropriate police action in regards to the active I-Card, which is in violation of P.G. 203-10 "Public Contact - Prohibited Conduct", page #1, paragraph #5, which states that MOS are prohibited from engaging in conduct prejudicial to good order, efficiency, or discipline of the Department. Charges and Specifications were subsequently preferred against Det. I am proud to recommend SSG Jacob Worley for consideration as a United States Army Warrant Officer Candidate. SSG Worley possesses the qualities required of a future Army Warrant Officer, specifically those needed to excel in the latest addition to the Warrant Officer Military Career Specialties (MOS), the Cyber Operations Technician, 170A. He has served as my Arabic Language Analyst and NCOIC of Analysis and Production for the 102 Combat Mission Team (CMT) for nearly two years. During this time his technical proficiency, attention to detail and adaptability has been equal and at times, has surpassed the skills of individuals assigned to more technical cyber roles within the team.
The conception of the surveillance program was an attempt to protect the american citizens from terrorist activity as well as act as a form of counterterrorism abroad in many other countries. These positive aspects of the massive surveillance system show that there is a benevolent practice of surveillance that should be
To prepare an officer selection and training program for organization officers I chose to do it on the Scottsdale Honors Cotillion organization. Scottsdale Honors Cotillion is a tax-exempt public charity, which was created and initiated in 1965. This organization only allows Scottsdale city school female, senior students to participate, such schools would be Chaparral, Cactus Shadows, Arcadia, Coronado, Desert Mountain, Phoenix Country Day, Notre Dame Preparatory, and Saguaro High school. There are many guidelines in order to be considered for membership into this organization and such guidelines would include: having and maintaining a average overall GPA of a 3.0 or higher, continue as a full time student at your school, attend a chosen
I would like to go the the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy because it would train me to become a police officer. The location of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy is P.O Box 313 on 5402 Sugar Grove Road in Plainfield, Indiana. There are many things to do around the academy. So at the end of the day when students don’t have anything else to do they can roam the city and have some fun and because they do not serve dinner there is a wide variety of restaurants that the students can eat at. There are many buildings at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
Picture this you are police officer on duty being dispatched to the International Airport with the description of an individual male in his mid-thirty’s making usual contact with TSA. When you arrive on the scene, you begin to approach the individual and try to engage in conversation. The man begins to yell at you and tell you this is matter of national security and I need to speak with an FBI agent. At that point you try to collect information from him, such his name and what he is doing at the airport. The man keeps yelling at you then proceeds to tell you, do you see that?
The Need for NSA Domestic surveillance plays a vital role in maintaining the country’s national security, and to reassure the citizens that they are properly protected from foreign and domestic attacks. The National Security Agency monitors Americans and other individuals around the world, who may be considered to be potential threats to the United States, and therefore bringing the nation under a state of emergency. The NSA is a subtle and yet legitimate way of preventing attacks against the United States, as the agency is governed by a particular set of legal rules in which they are permitted to exercise their powers in the benefit of the nation’s well being. The professional surveillance carried out by the NSA is an integral part of the
In discussions of passing the Michael brown Jr law which equips police officers to wear a body camera, one controversial issue has been that most police brutalities are not caught on tape or no witness sees what exactly happened, and who started what. The source argues that some cases of police brutalities that are caught on tape police does nothing to handle the case. My own view is that police officers should be equipped with body cameras so in case of police brutality cases they can know exactly what happened that day so there will be no questions asked for the police officers. According to article “Pass the Michael Brown, Jr. Law to begin equipping police with body cameras” that the case of Michael Brown Jr in Ferguson where Officer Darren
Clearly, had the CIA and FBI shared information with each other, connected the dots on known terrorist members, and subsequently gave that information to local law enforcement the attacks of September 11, 2001 may have been preventable. I am most certain that the families of the 2,752 people that died on that day would love nothing more than to see increase communication between federal agencies and local law enforcement. Fortunately, the results and recommendations of the 9/11 commission report may tremendous improvements in the communication for these law enforcement professionals (The 9/11 Commission Report, 2002). Some of those improvements included adding additional analysts to sort through the enormous amounts of intelligence, and reducing communication barriers between local and federal law enforcement agencies (The 9/11 Commission Report, 2002). Another area of opportunity included revamping the technology of communication via police radios.
The controversy of Criminal Justice: The use of force by police An Annotated Bibliography Brandl, Steven. “Re: Question in regards to Criminal Justice.” Received by author, 20 April 2017. This email has Professor Steven Brandl, discussing a key controversy for Criminal Justice.
The justice system is constant work in progress as the system must change and evolve to meet the needs, demands and requirements of the times we live in. The justice system and its statutes sometimes struggle to keep up with the ever-changing world; thus making them lag behind. As stated, one of the core functions of the justice system is to provide intervention programs for those individuals who are deemed to be at risk. Intervention programs do exist but still the justice system is overburden with many criminal cases. The inability of justice programs to work as they are intended to is seen as one of the significant problems facing the justice system.
The fact that they hired ex-military cybersecurity experts and they meet every few weeks, does not appease me. The Office of Personnel Management database, which houses all military personal identifiable information, was secured and monitored by military
My work ethic has elevated me above my peers and is reflected in my records. Over the past five years, my interest in the intelligence field has increased and I 've used that time wisely to improve my analytical proficiency. I paid close attention to senior leadership, learned from them and use them as role models to becoming a warrant officer. Now, I am ready to take this important step in my life and career by becoming a significant asset to the warrant officer
Since its inception, policing has changed form in many different ways, while collectively searching to improve. From departmental Standing Operating Procedures, to tactics, diversity, sensitivity training, methods of investigation, analytics, logistics and countless other aspects, the desire to improve policing never ceases. I believe a category responsible for improving all aspects of policing will always be intelligence. How it is obtained, disseminated, used and the constant demand of proficiency in all three areas. This along with the selection of qualified, knowledgeable, resourceful and experienced individuals into leadership positions within the Division, promotes the best opportunity for improvements in this area.
Pat noted, “How can we do this if we lack communication tools? Everything is under surveillance. Our cellphones, our work intranet systems. We’re lucky that the patrol in our
