One of the criminal thinking errors is the stance of “uniqueness”. This thinking error occurs when the person in question believes that they are different from everyone else, which leads to a sense of entitlement. Because of their supposed “uniqueness” they believe that the rules don’t apply to them, and they are entitled to have certain rights and actions that others wouldn’t have. A potential problem with this thinking errors is it can lead the person to suspect different treatment within the judicial system. As stated in the bill of rights, located in the Constitution, every person on United States soil has basic rights such as, right to a speedy trial or right against excessive bail. Just by denying others the better treatment you would be violating other individual rights of dual process. The court system wouldn’t be equal and fair as promised by dual process. That is how having the “uniqueness” thinking error can mess with individual rights. How having the same thinking error can affect the public order is on the extreme end of consequences, it could lead to favoritism among those people with the criminal thinking errors. In societies perspective favoritism coincidentally, is not favored. As humans, we don’t like when others are favored or liked better than ourselves. Having favoritism in the society for a while will change the way society functions. A way it could change is giving more power to the favored group of people. Certain rules that individuals who don’t believe in rules may not believe in rules on things such as speed limits and trespassing laws. The laws listed above provide safety and stability to the society, so it is very important to follow these laws. If I were a person that believed that laws didn’t apply to me and choose to break the speed limit I would be putting many people in danger, but most importantly it would be a detriment to the way society works. As mentioned before speed limits add stability and a way of functioning to the society so it isn’t complete anarchy. Not following laws or not believing these laws pertain to you messes up public order. That is one reason why having a criminal thinking error of “uniqueness” isn’t good for the society or the

Another person might believe that throwing a cigarette out of the car’s window in the middle of the street is totally fine , so why should that person pay hundreds of dollars for that? The answer to all the questions these people might ask is crystal clear, laws are there to organize the society and to make it a safe place, and following these laws is the way to create the protected society that all people want and need. People might also think that small acts of not obeying rules is not that much of a big deal, believing that violent crimes are the only thing that people should get punished on. These people not obeying the rules do not think of themselves as lawbreakers, let alone criminals, so they keep on going against the law, since they think it’s not threatening anyone.
Impact of Diversity on the Criminal Justice System Dolores Jackson Williams Colorado Technical University How could the judge support his decisions? At this time I don’t feel the judge can support his decision concerning Mr. Catalano, for the following reasons. According to ORC§2929.11(A) states that a defendant must be sentenced in accordance with the proposed statue. It is in place to protect the public from potential future crimes, by and offender. ¨In matters of truth or justice, there is no difference between large and small problems, for issues concerning the treatment of people are all the same¨-Albert Einstein. The justice system, however, is imbibed with many problems. We can, however, try to lessen these problems with achieving justice as we identified some faults of in achieving justice of all and the justice system. One problem with achieving justice is people are sometimes guilty until proven innocent like when Charlie was immediately thought of as guilty without a chance to prove his innocence. Another problem imbibed in our justice system is innocent people as sometimes convicted like Michael Morton.
The US criminal justice system has significant issues and needs revising because over the past 40 years there has been a 500% increase in the incarceration rates all over the US. The people who make small mistakes become a slave to our criminal justice system because these people are thrown into a vicious cycle that they cannot get out of. People who commit these small municipal violations may not be able to afford to pay the fine landing them a spot in prison. Nothing is being done to help these convicts and after they are released so they often have to resort back to earlier crimes to sustain themselves and will typically end up back in prison. Once these people are out, it’s much more difficult to find a job, leading them back into this

Many law officials may argue that speed laws are a good thing, but they have been proven to be ineffective. Speed limits only cause more of a headache for both law officials and people. Raising the speed limit has been proven to cause less accidents and traffic, create lower fatality rates, and make getting to work and important events on time easier. Drivers will drive the speed in which they feel comfortable at, no matter what the speed limit is. Instead of causing more ruckus, speed limits should be raised.
The court system should acknowledge the offenders past and realize that the reasons they are committing crimes are not their free will, it is elements in their past that have caused them to act in a deviant manner. Furthermore, Cullen and Johnson (2017) agree by stating, “science has demonstrated that un-chosen individual traits (e.g., temperament, self-control, IQ) and un-chosen social circumstances (e.g., family, school, community) can be
What is the purpose for having set speed limits? Some may argue that speed limits help set standards for road safety. Others may argue and, say that it’s just another way for the government and state to control us. Whatever the reason may be everyone has their own opinion on speed limits. Personally I am against having set speed limits.
As kids, we were always reminded that we had to follow the rules of society, just not in such big words. Frank Trippett in his article, A Red Light for Scofflaws, states that nowadays law-abiding citizens are breaking the law to categorize themselves as cool. He first lists instances that breaking the law seems normal, such as speeding or littering. He supports his stance furthermore by stating the saying “You’re a fool if you obey the rules” is the slogan on everyone’s mind these days. The author creates a concerned tone for the readers.
Problems in our justice system Although many believe that all criminals belong in jail there are a number of kids that are tried as a adult. Basically they get sent sent to a jail with adults. Research shows that children that are incarracted develop mental illness and suicidal thoughts. Children aren't the only ones who have this issue, adults have it also. The justice system has completely failed us.
Importance of Rules In a society or community, there are rules. Rules are regulations that the people under a government need to follow. What I will explain to you in this article will, how we are connected with the law and I hope, make you see sense in the importance of our laws in the society we live in. To be against the importance of laws in our society would show one to be ignorant and naïve. I encounter the law on a daily basis when I am driving. I have to follow the speed limit of each road, I have to signal before changing lanes, my vehicle must be in good condition in order to safely drive and I must obey all road signs as they are set in place to ensure the safety of everybody.
