The Roman views technology as if it doesn’t directly benefit the upper-class it doesn’t matter to them which explain the lacks of great inventions. The technological advancements in Document 8 in the fields of architecture of aqueducts and chemistry of sediment concentrations, clearly states its superiority to the monuments of craft made by the Egyptians or Greeks. The fact that the Egyptian, for they did not get along well. Furthermore, the description of the works of the others as idle or useless shows bias towards the Romans. This does question if the aqueducts are truly as magnificent as the author describes since if he could lose his job if he said that the aqueducts were of poor quality which is best

Ancient Rome DBQ Many people argue that the culture of the Ancient Romans reflect that of the United States today. While there have been many advancements over the course of the years, a few basic principles still apply and can be seen in the United States today. Although there a few key differences that can be seen between the two cultures, it is important that one focuses on similarities to see how the United States has developed as a whole. Roman culture was similar to what the United States is today by the form of government and types of entertainment.
The Roman Empire was one of the most advanced cultures of its time. The grandeur of Rome has had abiding effects on the societies of the entire world. Evidence of the brilliance and creativity of the Romans can be found in many modern countries such as the remains of roads, walls, baths, basilicas, amphitheaters, and aqueducts. These exhibit the technological advances made by the engineers and architects of the Roman Empire. Many modern civic buildings have been built using the Romanesque styling.
Also with traffic it keeps everything flowing for the most part. With the exception of rush hour times and when a lot of things are happening in the city it is usually pretty smooth. Besides the streets in the city many roads around it were built during the founding of Philadelphia. A road such as The Great Conestoga Road, completed in 1741, and the later Lancaster Pike, went from Philadelphia to Lancaster. After the Lancaster Pike was completed, the Pennsylvania Legislature granted charters to extend it westward to Pittsburgh, following closely the route of the Forbes Road.
Though not originally invented for war, one of the earliest examples of this is the expansion of Roman infrastructure through the building of roads to supply their military troops. The infamous Appian Way, or “queen of the roads”, was originally built in 312 B.C.E. and was intended as a supply route Rome and some of its allies in Capua.
The Romans used Roads were used for transportation, connecting far providence with Rome (Doc. 3). The Roman military used roads to mobilize quickly and carry supplies to different war zones (Doc. 3). Roads are still used today to transport people
Document 6, written by a high official of Rome, emphasizes the brilliance it took a man to construct roads that had “grace and beauty” (Doc 6). This document summarizes how the Romans viewed technology like roads with practical uses, but they cared more about the beautiful architecture of it and how it enhanced the character of Rome. Another piece technology that the Romans valued was the aqueducts as shown by document 8. A Roman general, governor, and water commissioner reports the use of their aqueducts and marvels in the water production compared to other civilizations. The Romans are rarely interested in the improvement of technology unless it benefits and brings pleasure to the entire society, or mainly the upper class.
The Silk Roads played an important role in connecting Afro-Eurasia, both culturally and economically. The term “Silk Roads” was first used by Baron Ferdinand von Richtofen, a German geographer from the 19th century. He created the phrase to describe the routes between India, China, and the Mediterranean, which were used to transport items such as silk, livestock, glass, and precious metals. Historians have speculated that the roads might have been used as early as 2000 B.C.E. In the last century B.C.E., the Silk Roads experienced a golden age.
One of the most famous buildings in Rome is the Colosseum. This building is now a major tourist attraction in Rome. The first road the Romans built was in 312 BCE. the Romans built magnificent public bathhouses in towns across their empire. Rich villa owners would have their own baths in their homes.
The Greeks and Romans seem to be extremely influential on our modern civilization. Many Greek and Roman traditions and cultures play major roles in our civilization. These traditions and cultures are displayed throughout our government, education, art, architect, cultural activities, and many other things. I assert the most influential ideas the Greeks and Romans had are displayed in our government, art, and architecture. Their ideas have inspired over 25 centuries, growing and changing over time, and still remain in our modern civilization.
The aqueducts were remarkable in water management, bringing fresh water to cities and promoting public health. The Roman road network facilitated trade, commerce, and the rapid deployment of military forces across the empire.
Rome was a giant and powerful republic and their knowledge is even used today. They met all of their common goods and their common goods were probably the best at the time. One of their best common good was common defense. How their army was structured and what types of equipment the soldiers were given were especially good. Their forts were also very good.
They also used them for military use because walking on a paved road was much faster then dirt roads. They had secondary roads and primary roads also known as the highways. There are 200,000 miles of secondary roads and 50,000 miles of
