Cursive, the Declaration of Independence was written in it. Christopher Columbus wrote his travels using it. Stated by Scholastic Scope Vol. 63, No.2, 41 states in the US no longer teach cursive. Such long history should not disappear just like that.

Quindlen describes the movie and then points out specific lines that express the situation of the children. She continues by explaining how physical writing is important to our wellbeing but how it has disappeared from our lives.

As I was reading Melissa Duffy’s “Inspiration, and Craig Vetter’s “Bonehead Writing,” I found myself connecting with Vetter’s paper more than Duffy’s. I found that the presentation in “Bonehead Writing” to capture my attention, and that Vetter’s feelings about writing was similar to my opinion on writing. Through his wording and humor, I think Craig Vetter wrote the best essay. I find that the wording and presentation of an article or essay influences my opinion of the writer, and it affects how I receive the idea they are trying to present to me. Craig Vetter uses a blunt approach to convey his idea that writing is nearly impossible to teach, and describes writing as “A blood sport, a walk in the garden of agony every time out.”

Although some teachers advocate texting helps students’ writing, Cullington provides details to show that it hinders formal prose. At least 41 states in the United States don’t require public schools to teach cursive anymore. This will greatly affect students because not everything is capable of being done on the computer. Even though technology is a great agricultural advancement cursive writing is still a beneficial tool to be taught and not overlooked.

Since the developments of computers and other newly developed technologies, children are now adapting to new ways in which they write and learn to write. In two separate articles by Emily Yoffe and Josh Geisbrecht, they discuss the way in which children are now learning to write in school, and furthermore, the types of technologies they are using. These adaptations are steadily changing the ways in which newer generations of children learn to write. Michaela Cullington was a former student at University in Pennsylvania when she wrote the essay of “Does Texting Affect Writing?” Have you ever thought if texting truly effects our writing style when it comes to college levels? Cullington did research of her own from different people group asking this question. Her thesis sentence was “IT TAKES OVER OUR LIVES” (…). Without computers, printing would be considered to be dropped but now every thing is in print. Even then we still need cursive, without it we couldn't sign checks or documents. All we are doing is making the futures of our young more difficult. They would have to learn to sign their name any way so we should at least teach our how to do it before they need it.

Cursive was taught to older generations and are very vivid to them, now if it is vivid to the old generations how is it going for the newer generations. In the other online excerpt Benefits of “Cursive Go Beyond Writing”, by Suzanne Baruch tells about how people need cursive and how it is important. In the video “Write stuff”, by NBC Nightly News talks about, both sides of the argument how Cursive is good and how it is not needed. Cursive is an art that was taught to the older generations, but is this really needed in a century with technology?

Why is writing important? Writing is an important skill to learn and enhance. Writing allows a person to be able to express their thoughts and ideas on to a piece of paper. Writing allowed me, even from a young age, to be able to express myself. Writing allowed me to add my thoughts and feelings on to a piece of paper.

It is also one of the most effective means of education. Conversely, digital technology has caused a revolutionary transformation in all aspects of our lives, whether it is in communication, education or creative writing. This research, therefore, aims to find out what effect this technology has on creative writing and specifically on creativity, writers, the youth and book piracy, as I feel that those are the most significant.
