For example, Ruben, is a male that does not follow the masculine code that men are suppose to follow. In fact, he possesses feminine qualities such as putting on makeup, dresses, and a wig. He even tries to give Julia advice on how to be a beautiful woman, such as when he tells her to put on certain make up. This questiond the gender convetions because it shows that men do not have to follow a masculine code that is forced upon them. The masculine and feminie qualities should apply to both men and women. For example, in the film Julia possesses both masculine a and feminine qualities. She dresses in feminine clothing such as a dress and heels, but has confidience and determination that is usually assocaited with masculinity. This shows that the film is trying to question why there has to be a standard for men and women. Both genders should be allow to possess both feminine and masculine qualities. It should be
Jedda Colonialism and Assimilation in Australian Film In this essay I will be exploring the themes of colonialism and assimilation and how it was represented throughout the 1955 Australian film Jedda, by Charles Chauvel; being the first Australian film that Aboriginal actors had taken on a protagonist role, even so far as to have the Aboriginal actors name appear first in the credits. The film is about a young Aboriginal girl, Jedda, who was orphaned as an infant and raised by the station owner’s wife, Sarah McMann. The woman was wanting to ‘civilise’ Jedda, teaching her to read and write in English, and how to play the piano instead of letting her learn the way of her tribal people by going on walkabout; finding bush tucker, and learning

In the memoir, The Prince of Los Cocuyos, the performance of masculinity of the people is illuminated. This is seen with most of the men conforming to the gendered expectations of a man, some confidently defying and conforming at the same time, and Riqui not daring to disturb the universe, but having a hard time conforming to all the expectations. As a child when it was just his grandmother giving him a hard time about acting and looking like a man, Riqui defied many of the gendered expectations. However, when these expectations started coming from friends then he started to attempt to act like he was expected. Riqui defies gendered expectations of a boy through his interest in the girly things like Cinderella, dolls and makeovers; however,
In this movie I noticed that masculinity and femininity are portrayed throughout the movie. The themes masculinity and femininity are portrayed in this movie from the very beginning when the girls’ soccer team has been cut. Viola confronts the boys’ soccer coach and asks him to let the girls try out for the boys’ team to which the coach says, “Girls aren’t as fast as boys…. Or strong… or athletic… it’s a scientific fact”. At this point, a few of the male players join in on the conversation and react by laughing, basically giving off the message that girls aren’t allowed on their team.
Men should be masculine and women should be feminine and the world goes

In the wildly popular Mexican film, Los olvidados (1950), Spanish director Luis Buñuel exposes the harsh realities of life in Mexico during the 1950’s. Luis Buñuel’s work on Los olvidados portrays a societal loss for all hope due to crime and violence as an infinitely vicious cycle, coupled with addressing the lack of reform for dilapidated living conditions throughout Mexico. In Los olvidados, Buñuel follows Pedro (Alfonso Mejía) a neglected bastard, and El Jaibo (Roberto Cobo) the leader of a gang of homeless children loitering in vacant lots. For Pedro, and the rest of the cast, a series of unfortunate outcomes have been strung together though common ignorance and a lack of self-control. Luis Buñuel’s use of focal length, editing, and dialogue
For instance, Tannen informs us that men constantly speak in class while women hold back because they don’t want to dominate. Men are known to be dominant whether it is in a relationship or at work while women would rather have a man take lead, especially in a relationship. This proves that there are characteristics that relate to each gender. While it’s not only about interactions between men and women but we also gender stereotype because we are taught to do so. Men and women have specific attributes, characteristics, and roles we go by that our society expects us to abide by.
This was formed from years of social views and gender representations in film. Women were often thought of as people who had small roles to play in life and a desire to there working class of men. The males were given heroic and superior roles, usually seen saving the day or doing what it took to support a family as seen in The Searchers where the men had to protect the family in search for their loved ones after the Indians raided the family’s home. In the movie cowboys vs aliens we also had a similar situation where the males had to leave home in search for their enemy. Males are still seen in this way in featured films and females still desired over men with their feminine aspects.
Topic 1: Film genres Through the 1995 film “Clueless”, written and directed by Amy Heckerling, the idea that film genres are located in industry and texts and audiences is clearly shown. “Clueless” is an American typical romantic comedy. This film can be seen as a hybrid genre as it include different characteristics of two film genres. In this movie, elements of humour and romance are both illustrated by its generic formulas and story content. The film talked about the heroine Cher goes through her perplexed teenage and finally realizes she is interested in Josh, her stepbrother.
The way we will crtique the movie is by using a a type of critque there are several but some of the main ones are Narrative, Ideology, or Feminism Criticism. I am attaching a paper Izzy and I did while in that class. Mine is a Narrative Criticism which in short can be used for any story because it breaks down the componets of the narrtive, time, characters, setting etc. which is why it doesn 't matter what movie we chose
Two films will be chosen from two different genres in order to be analyzed so that a conclusion between the comparisons and contrasts could be drawn. The movies that have been chosen are from two decades, which are from the 2000s, and 2010s. The romantic comedy movies being evaluated are Clueless (1995) and Friends With Benefits (2011). And The Silence of the Lambs (1991) and Insidious (2010) will be the horror movies being analyzed. This analysis should show a small growth in the different movie genres, and how they have formed over time.

Abstract: In most parts of the world, females have always been the victim of oppressive patriarchy and male chauvinism since ages. This problem has been represented by many people through various forms of creations be it art, literature or films. Films are the most popular visual mediums of entertainment through which a large segment of people can be approached. Like literature, a film is also a work of art which mirrors the society, it also depicts the reality of the society though it has some fictionality in it.
