Def Leppard did not start out as Def Leppard. It was actually two years before the band coined this somewhat strange and somewhat cool name. It all started in 1977; Rick Savage, Tony Kenning, and Pete Willis were all students at Tapton School in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Together they had formed a band known as Atomic Mass. Willis was on guitar, Savage on bass, and Kenning on drums. Joe Elliot, who was only eighteen at the time, tried out for the band as a guitarist after a coincidental meeting with Willis after missing a bus in November of 1977. During his audition however, it was decided that he was better suited to be a lead singer. According to the Rolling Stone, there was one Goldminic article described them as, “the heavy metal band you can bring home to your mother.” Not long after their first gig, they adopted the name “Deaf Leopard,” which was proposed by Elliot. He came up with the name while writing imaginary reviews for rock bands while he was in his English class. True story. Kenning suggested that they alter the spelling of the name a bit so they don’t seem like a punk band. So from there on out, “Deaf Leopard” was now known as “Def Leappard.” In January 1978, Steve Clark joined the band after playing Lynard Skynard’s …show more content…
Here they began working on the follow-up for Pyromania. Mutt Lange, who helped the band produce High ‘n’ Dry, passed on working with Def Leppard due to “exhaustion.” Instead, Jim Steinman who produced Meatloaf’s Bat Out of Hell, decided to work with the group. However, tragedy struck on December 31, 1984. Rick Allen was flying down a country street near Sheffield, England. Allen misjudged a curve, collided with, and went through a stone wall, and his car overturned at a high speed several times. Allen was ejected from his car; he survived the accident, but in the process his left arm was severed. The microsurgery that was attempted to reconnect his arm
But the group is making an album at the moment, a fact they mention while performing. So other people must found their music to be enjoyable. They sang a song called Forgotten. The band started out of thin air because Johnny brought up the idea to Harry, and he was all for it. They found a drummer named Richie and then got a quiet kid named Dave to play the bass. But eventually, Dave randomly decided to ghost his friends because the pressure of going on tour was too much for him. Then they held tryouts for a new bass guitarist, and that’s how they found Cheyenne. Right after finding her, they started booking gigs from all over town and then started booking concerts all over the east coast.
“Without any reason they made a cut, about 10 centimeters long and 2 centimeters wide, in my arm above the palm of my hand. Today I understand that the surgery that was done on me without anesthesia was done purposely with tools that were not sterilized to cause infection. At the time they kept exchanging the bandages with different medicated creams and liquids. The bandage was not wrapped around the arm but only covered the wound. Every day they examined the cut and each time the cut was about to heal, they reopened it and started the whole thing from the beginning” (Conference).
Fall Out Boy has changed to world of pop-punk. The bands name was inspired by the TV show, The Simpsons. They made a huge comeback with their new album, Save Rock and Roll after their 4 year hiatus. Selling over 7.5 million albums in the U.S, the band was a major hit. This wouldn’t be possible without the 4 people that make up Fall Out Boy; Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Andy Hurley, and Joe Trohman.

When More of the Monkees, the band’s second album was created, they, especially Mike Nesmith and Peter Tork, grew angry at the lack of control that they had over its production (Deming). This anger would later lead to arguments which caused the group to split from their producer (Deming). The Monkees traded the help of their producer for creative freedom. Overall, it is hard to say whether this did more harm or

Issue 1: The deployment of the atomic bomb in World War II was an unfortunate necessity for the United States. In a total war situation, using nuclear weapons was a solution that made the best of a bad situation. American leaders recognized the opportunity cost in terms of American lives versus the consequences of dropping the bomb. As Maddox writes, the Japanese “meant to fight the war to a finish” (5).
In 1991 the group signed a controversial deal with the Def American label (giving up control of previous releases), before releasing a live album, ‘Nürnberg Fish Trials’, followed by 1992’s studio album, ‘American Grafishy’ (Def American), and a tour. ‘American Grafishy’ diversified the group’s sound somewhat, to lukewarm reception, and was overshadowed by Dougherty’s subsequent death by drug overdose. It was around this period that the famous photos of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain wearing a homemade Flipper t-shirt were taken, bringing them to greater public exposure. This chapter was brought to an abrupt close in 1993, when singer Bruce Loose broke his back in a car accident, officially leaving the band in 1996.
After much denial and a court case, Vanilla Ice finally backed down and agreed to pay David Bowie and the members of Queen royalties because they did, in a sense, contributed to the track. After the legal battle with Bowie and Queen, Vanilla Ice starting losing his
Dre used music as an escape from the tensions and problems of life. He went to house parties and clubs to work the turntables with The World Class Wreckin’ Cru around Los Angeles. In 1986, the young beat maker found Ice Cube and wrote many songs for Ruthless Records, a music label started by a drug dealer known as Eazy-E. This allowed Eazy-E to form the N.W.A. an acronym for N*ggaz With Attitude, with Dre and Cube, releasing their first album in 1987, Boyz N The Hood. A year later with new management under Jerry Heller and Priority Records, N.W.A. delivered Straight Outta Compton, which became a major hit due to its hardcore lyrics and reflection on street life, especially those of "F*ck tha Police," which resulted in the FBI sending a warning note to the NWA suggesting that the group should not promote violence. Dr. Dre’s role in this famous rap group was to produce the music and work as the DJ at the future N.W.A. concerts.
