Graduates of an entry-level dental hygiene program are taught the basics. Through continuing education and degree enhances, a hygienist can build their skills and pursue roles outside of the dental clinic. There are seven professional roles in the profession of dental hygiene. These roles include educator, researcher, entrepreneur, administrator, corporate, clinician, and public health. The role of a dental hygienist as an educator is to teach oral health professionals using educational theory and methodology.

The career field that I have chosen to go into is the medical field. In the medical field I would like to become a dental hygienist. The background that I have on dental hygienist is that you exam gums, clean teeth, and teach about oral care. The research that I have already done on this profession is a dental hygienist annual salary and required hour of work. Some more research I utilized is how many years of college are needed, what you do while at work, and if you work by yourself or who you work with.

A major part of what we do for our patients is counsel and teach them appropriate oral hygiene strategies in hopes of encouraging the patient maintain their oral health.

She obtained her Expanded Function Dental Assisting & Radiology Certification in 2011. Joining Dr. Powless’s Team in January 2012 she a highly skilled assistant, very caring and gentle. Some careers related to a dental hygienist are sales representative, product researchers, corporate educators, corporate administrators, dental nurse, and a dental assistant. Sales representative is someone who sells a product or products to a business or customer. Product researcher is a person who provides information about the product. Corporate educator is a system of activities to educate employees. Corporate administrators are people who play a role in hiring someone.

Being a dental hygienist is one of the most respected careers, they are valued members of the oral health care team. Not only does it help the ones in need, it is providing you with the health care that many would benefit.
